Just did V6 HP test

Hey,

I just borrowed a buddies' G-Tech Professional (you set the G's to 0 on level ground, it measures acceleration...you enter weight, it works out horsepower, etc) and got 172 RWHP. Thinking back, I had my rear defroster on, stereo (see sig, quite powerful) and AC on...so I think I could probably do better.

Anybody dyno'd a V6 or used a G-Tech before?

Let Me Know,
Thanks,
Kevin

general rule of thumb: g tech sucks. or at least that is what everybody i know says. i dont know cause i never have used one.

the only time i dynoed my car i was at 190 rwhp at 5000 rpms, but because of some freak of mechanical engineering, 5000 rpms was as high as i could dyno at. (very long story)

but i would think that sounds about right.

I just got mine in the mail today and am wondering how to measure horepower ? Do you have to run your car a full 1/4 mile to get the HP or does it just come up on the screen just sitting there with the car on?

It's a non-stop reading, once you go from a stop and start it. You'll get the most HP reading gunning it from 2nd (20-50 MPH) or in 4th (50-80 MPH). At least, that's when I saw the best results.

my dyno numbers

for some reason- the dyno people had a hard time getting a reading from my car- so this is a rough estimate from a 1996 Camaro RS with a crappy muffler.

Max Power- 155.1
Max Torque- 184.3
That was when i first bought the car in October.

Now with my headders, hi flow cat, SLP Loudmouth, CAI, Cam, and NX Kit i think those numbers will be ALOT higher-

G-Tech dyno numbers are crap. Get a real dyno run. It gets your rwhp from weight and acceleration, which is inaccurate with short bursts.

Kev dude, that is a great looking car. I love how the calipers and hubs of the discs are painted red to match. And yes, those black ice wheels are great looking also. I have a black car with chromies, but those wheels may make me want to switch.

Thanks for the compliments! I really like the black ice, it's a little change away from chrome (sometimes a bit too flashy). The black ice wheels with chrome exhaust, soon to be clear brake lights (not altezzas, but the red/clear from the 93-97 Camaros), and soon to be clear corner lenses should all compliment each other nicely. The black from the tire (especially when I put stuff to make it look wet on) and the tinted windows really compliment each other nicely too!
