I was fed some bad info a couple of years ago that in effect said that my 96 Z did not have a tuner 'kit' available except for some commercial program that ran like 2 grand...
Loyd Elliot straightened me out on this, just this morning and said you guys would know what I need to allow me to tweek my set up...
I recently changed gears to 4.10 and the mail order guy I have always used just doesn't seem to be interested in helping me work this out... so what do I need to log performance data and to setup my own tune for my 1996 Z28?
I really appreciate the help...

There is not much for obd2 lt1's. Basicly just jet dst which is just a more expensive version of the obd2 tunercats since they purchased it from him.
The cheap way to go is to convert your setup to obd1 and buy a cable and tuner cats. You can then log with freescan, or if you want pay money you can use tts datamaster (get 20 free logs though).
Hey thanks man...
Yeah I scurried around the forum and read a bunch of the older threads and found TC; then Jet, then Jegs for the order.
So... I am looking foward to FINALLY being able to do some "TUNING" on Test-N-Tune" night, instead of just Testing... ;)
In the search, which I should have done two years ago, instead of just listening to the scuttlebutt... (but hey I was Guh-REEN!... and while not the smartest duck on the pond, I do eventually learn something if I'm subjected to it long enough) but I found out that they were HALF right... The $2000 was for the Open License... not just one's own PCM.
Again, thanks for the time ya took to respond...

LT1 Edit will support the '96/97 LT1 cars...?
LT1 Edit will support the '96/97 LT1 cars...?
Man I am a black whole of ignorance... but here's what I've garnered from the brief period i've been studying it.
The 96 is the first of the OBD2 PCMs... Apparently the LT-1 Edit was set up for the OBD1... and the company Tuner Cat developed or was licensed to offer the same or a similar program... perhaps it was a competing program, I honestly do not know.
But OBD 2 comes along and back in 06 Tuner Cat sold the license for the OBD2 to Jet...
I just received the Program from Jet today. I've loaded it this evening, but I've yet to work up the courage to plug it into my car...

LT1_Edit was originally available only in an OBD-I version. Then they came out with an OBD-II version (gotta be at least 10 years ago). None of these have anything to do with TunerCat.

Tuner cat was originally developed in an OBD-I version. Shortly after they came out with their OBD-II version, the rights to the OBD-II version were licensed by JET.
