SBC headers on LT1?twcblackhand6970 02-15-2009, 12:52 AM Will they work and which will fit the best on a 94 camaro? reamo04 02-15-2009, 01:59 AM why would you bother trying to find some that'll fit? Just grab a set of pacesetters. The flange spacing is the same, a lot of us use SBC flanges on turbo builds. twcblackhand6970 02-15-2009, 02:04 PM I've had better luck finding good condition used LT's for SBCs than LT1s and I plan on getting dumped true duels so the collector to y-pipe fitment isn't an issue. camarobird92 02-15-2009, 05:56 PM The biggest deal is clearence in your 94 camaro, not engine fitment. Most of the headers for that body style will be for LT1's. twcblackhand6970 02-15-2009, 10:23 PM there's no know lets say like 89 z28 headers or something like that would fit good? camarobird92 02-16-2009, 09:16 AM An 89 z28 is a totally different chassis design. I don't think a header designed for a 3rd gen F-body will even fit in a 4th gen. twcblackhand6970 02-16-2009, 11:42 AM okay, that's what I was asking. I wasn't saying a 89 would fit, just an example of what I meant. rexcellent 02-16-2009, 12:18 PM I think your confusion is this: All small block chevy headers will more than likely fit on any smallblock chevy regardless of year or displacment. Keeping this in mind, the SBC was offered and can be found in about 5 BILLION different vehicles. When a header says that it "fits 19xx-20xx, camaros, or 19xx-19xx, novas, etc" that means that it was designed to fit in the engine compartment of that vehicle w/o any modifications needed. In other words, if you take a 283 out of a '57 bel air, you can put '95 LT1 headers on it but that doesn't mean that you can fit the engine back into the Bel Air because the headers are made to fit in a '95 camaro. Now, in regards to your question, I do not know if there are any other style headers for a SBC that will fit on a 4th gen, and I highly doubt it due to the lack of space, but maybe in a gutted out engine bay some others might work. I hope this helps you understand better if this is where you were confused. 6SpdLT1Z 02-16-2009, 01:22 PM For one, LT1s are D port heads. You could run in to lots of clearance problems and IDK if the ports would line up. Just do it right and buy LT1 headers for a LT1. | ||
