my rebuild 4l60e What Happened ?

I had my transmission redone about 3 years ago . "My dad had it done by someone he knew" . worked great until , i noticed it being slugish in 3rd .

then 2 days later 3rd and 4th are gone . but evertything else is great .

reverse , first and second work , just when it shifts to 3rd if you give it any gas it slips so bad it shoots up to 5 Grand and does not go no where .

What happened ?

also, i had Madz28 increase my line pressure for harder shifts .Could that of hurt it ? i only had probaly 6-8 k on the rebuild . that is the 3rd tranney to go out in my z28 its whole life iam the oringnal owner . and it only has 88 k on the car ...

says someting about the 4l60E

Sounds like the 3-4 clutch failed. The 60e can be built as a strong uit however a stock rebuild and A modded car or heavily run car does not last very long, You need a 60e built for performance

says something about YOUR 4l60E. I beat the everloving **** out of mine and it lasted 150k also if built right by an experienced tech with the right parts, the 4l60E is a very strong trans capable of quite a bit of hp and abuse.

Your pretty close to stock so you should be fine with a stock one. I think you can have just your problem fixed without having to do an entire rebuild. Before I bought my car the 1st and 2nd gears were redone and it has been fine since. The cost was only $350.

If I still had my A4 I wouldn't have anyone else touch it except one of the vendors here. Go to the right people brother. Makes life a whole lot better imo.
