Debating whether I want to go down that path. I would need to buy a mockup vehicle. Doesn't seem like alot of people are turbo'ing 3rd gens, especially with the TPI.

Doesn't seem like alot of people are turbo'ing 3rd gens, especially with the TPI. i agree, most people throw in an LT1 or LSx into the 3rd gens anymore. LSWHO 02-03-2009, 05:52 PM Good god, I'd LOVE to have a turbo 3rd gen. My #1 dream car is the TTA. I never even thought about turboing the TPI before... the tuning is the big problem as you have to burn new chips all the time. 1996camaroSSclone 02-03-2009, 09:59 PM Well I don't own a third gen annymore but my step dad owns a salvage yard and we have a few but I doubt you want to come all the way to Iowa to get it lol;) RealQuick 02-04-2009, 08:57 AM Thanks, but it is definitely far away! I don't have a problem getting a 3rd gen, just don't know if I want to spend the money or take up the garage space. Tricked-Out-Toy 02-04-2009, 10:16 AM I wouldnt bother... the TPI is a waste, now if you could do a kit for LT1's and LS1 swapped into a thirdgen you might find more ppl willing to spend the money.. jay_rich 02-04-2009, 10:16 AM Damnit lol..I may be for interested in a T6 kit next year. If you can do one for a 3rd gen with an LT1 that would be awesome, then I could benefit lol. It would be awesome bc the only kit made is the BBS designs and its only a log crossover and a T4 max. I am building a T6 right now and its touch you pretty much have to move the rad forward 6inches. (if keeping the accessories) The hardest part to get around is the steering assemble as it is a box with pitman arms etc. I notice on thirdgen.org a lot of people wanting to turbo but not many actually do OR they do it and its nasty looking lol. Jay Jay85IROC 02-04-2009, 08:51 PM I notice on thirdgen.org a lot of people wanting to turbo but not many actually do OR they do it and its nasty looking lol. Jay Yeah, most people on that site are a bunch of dreamers. I think alot of them never get off the ground because the guys are like me and lack the skills to do all the fab work that comes with making your own kit. Alot of them are broke high schoolers too..lol I would have killed for a 3rdgen turbo kit a year ago. But I have zero fabrication skills, so I bailed on my 3rdgen project and just bought a C5. I think a kit for a 3rdgen would be a decent seller. A hot side kit for a SBC would work on an LT1 easy enough. I was going to use a BBS designs style hotside on an LT1 and run C4 vette accessories. I'd love to see a 3rdgen turbo kit made, as I plan on getting another thirdgen someday for a turbo project. 1996camaroSSclone 02-05-2009, 02:12 PM A lot of people that have third gens because thats all they can afford. LSWHO 02-05-2009, 11:26 PM A lot of people that have third gens because thats all they can afford. That's funny. If I could afford a third gen, I'd have one. 1996camaroSSclone 02-06-2009, 12:12 AM All the ones around here are pretty much junk and owned by high schoolers. My first car was an '86 Z28 with a 305 but it was to much money to get it to run so I bought my '96 off my step dad and now I'm on to my firebird....... And looking for another car for a dd haha. reamo04 02-06-2009, 12:54 AM That's funny. If I could afford a third gen, I'd have one. ford 02-06-2009, 01:07 AM I may catch some flak for this one RQ... But if you really want to make some money, grab a 05+ Mustang and fab a kit. I know my friend here is salivating over my T76 sitting in my garage. reamo04 02-06-2009, 02:05 AM I may catch some flak for this one RQ... But if you really want to make some money, grab a 05+ Mustang and fab a kit. I know my friend here is salivating over my T76 sitting in my garage. mustang kits are a dime a dozen, tons of places make kits for them 92LT1RS 02-11-2009, 08:08 AM I wouldnt bother... the TPI is a waste, now if you could do a kit for LT1's and LS1 swapped into a thirdgen you might find more ppl willing to spend the money.. I wouldn't even bother. Go check out thirdgen.org. Everyone wants the latest and greatest but no one wants to pay for it. Stick to the markets that will actually recoup your time and money investment. RealQuick 02-11-2009, 09:12 AM Well, I think I will take everyone's advice and not bother buying a mockup vehicle. If someone with a 3rd gen wants to drop off their vehicle then I will do a kit, but no mail order stuff. Thanks everyone. Tricked-Out-Toy 02-11-2009, 09:18 AM Good luck man! I think it says alot when you see us thirdgen guys tell ya that it isnt worth it... we would LOVE to see someone make a kit but we all know deep down it would be a complete waste of time and money for the person building it.. I would set your sights on the 2010. there is going to be an EXCELENT niche for you there. so many other companies are going to be selling hot side along for 2500+. I think someone bringing what you offer on the LT1's would be able to clean up with the ppl that have more common sense that money. :) ford 02-11-2009, 11:00 AM the 5th gen option is actually a great idea. definently seems like a viable option. RealQuick 02-11-2009, 11:02 AM If I could afford one, I'd be driving it... not using it for mockups ;) Tricked-Out-Toy 02-11-2009, 11:03 AM Ya I would even say make your first kit for the V6 since all the other big companies are focusing on the V8, a turbo V6 in the 400-450hp range would light a fire under the stock LS3 guys ass! Skrew buying one! I would rent one from hertz for a week or two and mock it up on that :) that would only cost you about 600-700 and your done! 91RSLT1 02-12-2009, 02:54 PM Too bad I would buy one for my LT1:( RealQuick 02-12-2009, 03:37 PM Too bad I would buy one for my LT1:( When you are ready to buy, contact me. We can discuss options. 96SilverRam 02-26-2009, 07:54 PM .02, definitely don't go down the 3rd gen road (no money for sure). It's hard enough to get LTx guys to spend money on a turbo setup. It would be nice to see you further refine the LT1 kits with .1, .2, etc. versions :p | ||
