Clunking noise

i have an auto 95 z28 and when i shift the car into drive or reverse i hear a cluck noise but the transmission shifts fine through all the gears any thoughts?

if all else is normal i would guess at a broken trans mount? or is it just a harsh garage shift? is it only when the car is cold?

no programming done to up the line pressure at the pc solenoid right? give some more info.

Could be u-joints. Another possibility is LCA bushings.

Does it make the clunking noise only when you move the gearshift into Park or Reverse? Or does it make the noise after the tranny shifts into each gear (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc)? If it's the latter I would suspect the tranny mount. Mine deteriorated years ago and would make a loud noise every time the tranny shifted to a new gear.

Trans mount??? U-joints??? Worn clutches in transmission???? :)

loose torque arm bolts at the rear

it dose not happen through all the gears, so what dose that rule out? and ill check out the trans mount and the u joints and the torque arm bolts

The initial post indicated you had the problem when the tranny was dropped into drive or reverse. Now you are indicating: "it dose not happen through all the gears". Are you now indicating that you have a clunk under some conditions when the tranny is operating under load, not just when you drop it in gear?

In any case, this appears to be a drivetrain issue, so I'll move this to the "Drivetrain" forum.

okay so im sitting in my car i start it early in the morning no noise when i shift from park to reverse or from park to drive but there is a clunk noise when the car is warmed up when i shift from park into drive or park into reverse or drive intor reverse i do not hear the clunk when the car is already in drive and shifting into 1 2 3 etc.

Did you check Trans mount, u-joints, etc.. already????? To help narrow down... If its none of those, then it probably a worn trans and need to be rebuilt...JMO:)
