Courtesy lights wont turn off!! Ugh!!!

so me and my friend were checking out the light bulbs for the inside of my 93 z28 we took them out and i ordered some new replacements tonight, theyre all in fine condition, so i leave 2 of the lights off and everything is working normal when i alarm my car, etc.

now i get to my friends house and alarm the car and go inside the house and everything alarmed fine, i come back out and my lights start flashing, when i sat in my friends car, i think i accidentally sat on my remote, but there was no alarm sound, just the lights flashing, so i freaked out and ran to my car pressed the alarm key and it alarmed but it didnt make the chirp noise or anything, so now thats the issue, its alarming but not making the sound, and the courtesy lights arent turning off, and i checked all the pressure knobs to make sure nothing was broken

i need help ASAP on this issue, i had to disconnect my battery in order to keep the lights off -_-

this is my daily driver so i need it running...




(edit) my friend did toggle the dimmer switch now that i remember and im trying to research this issue.

Just a quick question. Did you try getting in it, shutting the door, and starting the car. do the lights go off then?

I have a car where every now and then the lights will not go off, and ussually i have to get in, shut the door, and start the car. then I shut it off and get out and the lights go off like they are supposed to. Could be a faulty door switch.

If you friend rolled the dimmer switch all the way up so it clicked there is your problem right there, that turns on the courtesy lights.

Wait, what do you mean toggled the dimmer switch? You let someone put a DIMMER switch on a TOGGLE switch... aka on or off... take that thing out if so and put it back to the stock dimmer, if that is what you are talking about that is most likely your problem. The dimmer has a constant ground and an ignition controlled power line. If for some reason your friend re ran a power wire to this toggle switch he probably ran it from a constant source, there for your lights are always on inside your car because the "dimmer" switch controls the interior lights as well.
