Hmmm... I had a 2.8V6 in one of my cars once. It took a beating but made no power at all...

For that kinda money, you would probably be able to pick up a V8 car in similar condition.

I had the 1988 with the 2.8 L for a short time, mine had 96 k miles on it when I sold it.

Certainly it lacked the pick up of my 1986 305 V8 but it had enough pep to adequately merge onto the freeway from an on-ramp. I didn't think it was a bad car except it the engine was very load for a stock engine/exhaust (and not in a good way).

My 1st car was an 86 Berlinetta with the 2.8 V6. It was rusty, dented and very ugly. I bought it for 600 bucks. It was an awesome car for figuring out RWD and responsibility at a young age. Decent gas mileage too.

I have a 1989 2.8 v-6. I bought mine with the small v-6 on purpose as I already had a Camaro with a 468. I wanted something fun and economical. With a few tweaks to the engine and drive train I was able to squeeze 32 mpg highway out of it. When I first got it i was getting 24. The 2.8 definitely lacks pin you in the seat power, but the ability to drive 120 miles on less than four gallons easily makes up for it. I have almost 250,000 on mine. I change the oil every 3000 etc. I have put some money into it to keep it in good shape as I drive it all year round up here in Maine so it sees a lot of salt etc. The one that you are looking at should make you a fun project car for $900.:D
