Just like the title of the thread states, what are the differences between SS/WS6 Lt1 cars and standard z28's? Is there a difference in components or ride height?

What are the differences between SS suspension and Z28 suspensionKredz28 01-14-2009, 03:58 PM Just like the title of the thread states, what are the differences between SS/WS6 Lt1 cars and standard z28's? Is there a difference in components or ride height? joeSS97 01-15-2009, 06:14 PM Dont quote me on this...Bigger wheels were an option. A low budget SS just got better anti-sway bars. Level one got shocks also.. Level two got those and springs. Maybe someone else can chime in. :) slomarao 01-15-2009, 10:13 PM The springs are really just stiffer, not really lower. The majority of them had slp blistein(sp) shocks, not sure on the sways but i know they are bigger diameters. Wild Willy 01-16-2009, 08:02 AM I don't think the base springs were swapped, unless you got the level two suspension- then you got Bilstein shocks, too- There were no internal engine mods- depending on year there were various exhausts available- In '96-'97, you could get either 16" or 17" wheels, after '97 all SS's had 17" wheels- Lots of info here: http://www.z28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63887 Mostly cosmetic stuff- badges, plaques, different spoiler and hood- mzgp5x 01-16-2009, 11:30 AM I have a 97ss with the level 2 option. The springs have a higher rate and the car sits lower from 1/2" to 7/8". Similar to an Einbach spring. The SLP option (for level 2 gm option purchase) also had different rear jounce bumpers due to the lower spring heigth. I had alot of rear fender mods (sheet metal and cut/ replace the rear jounce bumper mount) to make a 17x11 rear ZR1 wheel fit. I do like the springs for throwing the car thru corners. The car came with an SLP booklet noting these changes and other options... (Hurst shifter - money wasted option/ rear axel Torsin diff - good torque bias but not good for FI apps.) Car has a rather harsh ride, but, can't complain about the cornering ability fun factor. B. canuck94z28 01-17-2009, 02:20 AM The springs are really just stiffer, not really lower.
