people who are saying the "SS" isnt the new camaro.. Come in here!

Are you serious? Look at those design ques! It is probally running on a F-body chasis! The rear hatch, the long hood, the neverending front window! All it is, is a camaro with a back seat! Just look at the pics. Just like they said "The 5th gen will have some design ques of the 67-69's"

SS aka 5th gen

Does anyone have a pic of the blue 5th gen concept from a couple months ago from GM?! Its damn near the same car except for the hood and fascia!

Im telling you, we have a 6.0 camaro coming our way!

The blue 5th gen photo was a photoshopped, computer enhanced picture from Road & Track (the notation next to the picture in the magazine even said this), that started life as a picture of the SSR concept. Trust me on this.

The SS has some Camaro ideas but the car itself isn't a Camaro preview.

Does anyone know what cities the SS is going to visit? I know Dallas never gets anything cool, but is there a chance of it being there? Thats the only show I can go to.

If it were the next Camaro, they'd say "This is the next Camaro", or at least "expect to see many of these cues on the next Camaro". However, GM has strategically avoided using "Camaro" in any descriptions of this concept car and continues to be mum on camaro (despite openly admitting other makes are in the pipeline).

Too long and too tall to be a Gen-V Camaro. It could be the next Impala or Chevelle though.

Well, even if it did have next Camaro styling hints, they would not say a thing about it, because the next Camaro isn't even a certainty yet and we all know how GM likes to be tight lipped about future products.

But to me, the nose is unquestionalbly a morphing of early 2nd gen with late 4th. Also the proportions scream F-body, the windshield, super long hood and short rear deck. Just look how far back the driver sits, he's in the middle of the car, like an F-body, not like a family sedan.

But the profile and those curvy haunches are straight '68 corvette. As somebody mentioned in another thread, the side styling of the SS could definitely be hinting at the more muscular C6 we've heard about.

I don't think its an official 5th gen test mule or anything, but I am convinced, despite the lack of evidence, that this car was purposefuly designed with a unquestionably Camaro nose just to see how the public would react to it. I think a warm reception for the SS bodes well for a return of the Camaro.

Thumbs down

The SS is no Camaro. No where near. It's downright ugly - it even looks like an overgrown Mazda RX-8.

So far the new Mustang is way ahead of anything GM has shown us except the Monaro (which has recently begun to grow on me).

There is a lot I am not super crazy about the SS concept, but I like it a heck of a lot more than the Mustang concept.....

Just my opinion though.

On closer inspection it looks more like a 4-door "Vette" for the "Family Man."

Luts being the enthuist he is, he sin't going to make a 425hp vette

also i'd excpect an uptdate on the Ls1
kinda like L98 ---> Lt1
Ls1----> Ls2? Ls2834? Ls98? who knows
