Has anyone seen the ambient lighting?

Just curious as to whether anyone has seen it lit up yet. We've seen several 2LT / 2SS pictures, but not with the lighting running, unless I've missed it somewhere.

Nope...although there have been a few people who have seen it but never got pictures...

There's actually a few people over on Camaro5 who are pretty convinced that something's wrong and ambient lighting is delayed or canceled. I sent Jason/Chris an email, and they said that they haven't heard anything about it. Scott also told me in a PM that they were still perfecting it, so that's what I'm going to go on until I hear otherwise.

We were lucky enough to see the ambient lighting at the Philly Auto show.
While I was near one of the cars, Scott (Fbodfather) turned on the headlight to give people a view of the halos. As he turned on the switch I saw the ambient lights come on. Right place at the right time. The lighting at the Convention Center was very bright and refelective so the soft blue lights didn't show up very well, especially on camera. I turned off my flash and took a few shots.
This is the only one that came out, sortof:

Funny how such a simple thing was so cool.

That is cool, i hope we do get the ambient lighting in the dash and not just the doors.

Well, as far as I could tell it went across the top edge of the dash panel and around the door panels.
I looked at the panel on a couple of the cars real close and I can see a thin clear plactic line that the led light shines through.
I also noticed there's a thin clear plastic ring in the center of the steering wheel which looks like that might light up also.

I actually have a question.... does/did the Ambient Lighting you saw have the "animated" effect, where it starts at the center of the dash and "flows" out to the doors?

i dont think it was ever intended to be just the doors. it has always been on the dash also.

There are mixed reports regarding this. Apparently some Camaro reps have stated ABL will be only on the doors. Here's the thread about it.

That picture I took (as bad as it is) was of the side of the dash on the left side of the speedo/rev gauges.
Now, the lighting was on the red 1LT/RS with an X in the VIN number so we really can't be sure it's going to be on a production car.
There was a production car at the Philly show, but it was an LS or 1LT and it didn't have the lighting. The other two cars, a silver 2SS/RS and the LS7 didn't have any lights on to tell.

No it just came on like any other interior light.

i have never heard that story. every car and concept we have seen of the ambient lighting is the doors and dash. even from what they showed at indy it has always been both. i dont think theirs any truth behind having ambient lighting on just the doors.

I was at the Pittsburgh show today, I saw the orange ambient lighting. It looked awesome. It was on the doors AND the dash. Christine(very hot) assured me that the lighting WOULD be on both the doors and the dash! Good news guys, it looks great. Just about a month to go!!!

Ambient lighting seems to be showing up in working order on sahow cars more and more these past fews weeks. Hopefully that means that it will be ready in time for production. 1 month from Monday production begins, giddy up!

At the Chicago show I was told yes it will make production and is standard on the SS2 both dash and doors. I asked another GM rep about a half hour later and he told me doors only. 2 reps two different answers so who knows? Good news is at least they both said yes! :)

if it is on just the doors, that is going to look retarded as hell. hopefully the rep that told you didnt know what the hell he was saying. he probably didnt even know what ambient lighting was. right now, we know more than most reps or salesmen. the only people who know more are the people working on these cars and driving them right now.

He actually seemed like he knew what he was talking about, but who knows. He did say it was going to be postponed to later production but said they are now telling him that it is going to be available but doors only. :( I am going back this friday (The fam wants to see the car) so I am going to bring it up again and see what kind of answers I get this time.

I saw the ambient lighting last night, and unless it has some kindof dimmer switch that I(or the dealer) don't know about, it's basically unnoticable. I specifically asked for him to turn them on and I couldn't see it at all on the open driver door(Full cloud cover, so it wasn't too bright outside), but I could faintly see it on the closed passenger side door. Case in point, very hard to see, but still kinda neat. Definately can't be used to light the floor if you dropped something though, nowhere near bright enough.

The Ambient lighting is unfortunately only on the doors and only at the top.
Originaly it was supposed to have it in the dash as well but for some reason, they don't have it.

It looks ok but it could be brighter.
