This engine is sort of indirectly replacing the older fuel-injected 3.6L as the smaller engine makes just as much power, but is slightly easier on the fuel. In the time of roller-coaster fuel prices, we deem this as a SMART move on GM's part. Also expect to become very familiar with this engine, as it is making its way to several models in a short amount of time.
