Need help from the Detroit/Mich. crew

I got tickets to a Flyers/Wings game in March for my brother for xmas. (He's a big Datsyuk fan) I need to book a hotel but I don't know the area at all and I'm not trying to stay in a bad area. Where/what part of D-Town should I look for a hotel where I won't get mugged/shot?

Will you have a car or will you just be taking a shuttle into downtown?

Your brother has good taste in hockey. You will probably be good if you find a hotel in Grosse Pointe. It is very close to downtown Detroit, but in a very safe area.

I actually work right around that area and I have never had any issues. All the "riff-raff" know there is a border where Detroit stops and Grosse Pointe starts and they don't cross it. Grosse Pointe is also heavily patrolled. I would look there first.

You could stay downtown and hop on the People Mover. Check out the
Greektown Casino maybe?
