I have a 2000 Z28 with 37K miles. The shifter seems tight and hard to shift quickly. Is there any points I could lubricate? I have owned the car for 2 weeks. Is it me still learning the 6spd or is there a problem with the shifters over time?
That shifter is a piece of junk, get rid of it! I had the same problem at 40k miles and i installed a B&M ripper, awesome feel and it is a little easier to get in and out of gear of cold mournings
I have the same problem guy.
freakin p-o-s. my biggest problems is shifting from 2nd to 3rd i get stuck and fall into 5th. and when im in higher rpms lets say like 45-50 there are times where it won't want to go into 5th. also at times i have to try mulitple times to get it to fall into reverse. it falls in but when i let off the pedal all u hear is a scratching sound, clutch not engaged all the way. so i have to put it in n and try it again.

I can't speak for the B&M, but I have a Pro 5.0 with the lou's short stick on it and it's awesome. I have never missed a gear since I went to this setup. I had the 2 bolts come loose, but that's nothing that a drip of loctite can't take care of.

bm ripper shifter
O.K> it sounds like the OEM shifter has gota go.
Here's a concern I have. No matter what I do the 6 spd will not go from 6th to 5th at highway speeds. It will go 6th to 4th.
No I did not read the owners manual so either it's jacked-up or it's normal and I"m to lazy to read. So someone tell me which it is.
GM certified car so I have a warranty!

To respond to your original post, before you go out and spend $100 or more on an aftermaket shifter take some time and get used to the shifter you have. I have an 02 TA 6spd stock non hurst shifter, I've so far never missed a shift, even taking second to 6k and shifting into 3rd, goes in smooth as silk, maybe I have a gearbox built on a wed IDK, but before blowing your hard earned $$$ on a shifter, give it a month, maybe even 2, then if you feel the shifter sux for you. Then get whatever aftermarket one you like(besodes it gives you more time to find the best price
