2010_5thgen 11-04-2008, 03:35 PM i just got an update from camaro5.com saying that cheryl pilcher told a member of camaro5 that there will be a blue offered for the camaro ss in mid november. those who placed orders already will be able to change.
not sure exactly what the color will be but it will now be offered in blue. hopefully like that GS!
tally114 11-04-2008, 03:37 PM Cheryl Pilcher has informed another camaro site blue will be offered on the SS model in mid-november.

Am I missing where they said which blue though??
Any word from fbodfather on this?
2010_5thgen 11-04-2008, 04:20 PM its probably the imperial blue metallic. its already offered but only for the v6. the only other blue is that really light baby blue color. my guess is its the imperial blue. which might be close or the same as the GS camaro at SEMA.
ChrisL 11-04-2008, 04:37 PM Jason and Chris will confirm since they're there. I just gave him a call.
DAKMOR 11-04-2008, 04:42 PM ^Waiting!!

The other one is Aqua Blue Metallic, which is quite a bit darker than what I think of when I hear "light baby blue".
I'm hoping it's both, but if I had to pick just one, it would be Imperial.
Imperial Blue Metallic:

My idea of light baby blue:

2010_5thgen 11-04-2008, 05:42 PM sorry, it kinda reminds me of a baby blue but maybe a bit on the darker side in this picture.
CamaroBuyer 11-04-2008, 06:54 PM I prefer JSB, but Aqua will suffice for an old Lemans Blue 1969 Camaro owner.

I saw Aqua Blue in real life on an HHR at the Indy event.
It didn't look like this picture.
Mr. Maro 11-04-2008, 09:05 PM Awesome, simply awesome! Thanks to all those involved that made it happen.

I think we helped make it happen. On a day when voters are being heard across the country I think GM listened as well.
ChrisL 11-04-2008, 10:57 PM any word from fbodfather on this?
got a short response from Scott on this....
we don't want to put it out there until the order tables are updated........
so being reasonable, as much as GM wants to get the word out as fast as possible, internal workings are slower at GM. I'm sure there was some noise over customers walking in telling dealerships they can get poslished wheels with RS with nothing officially communicated to the dealerships.

+1.
Don't anybody head down to your dealer expecting to change your order, or get a blue SS. Not until mid-November, at least.:thumb:

Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you guys for finally allowing it!!!
305fan 11-05-2008, 08:44 AM sanity prevails....for once :D
They should really sit down and talk to the person who decided on colours....not having blue in the first place is just beyond stupid.
ChrisL 11-05-2008, 09:38 AM Here's the deal. This news was not intended to be put out for public consumption yet.
GM will make an official announcement once things are in place on the corporate side and the dealers have the info available themselves.
2010_5thgen 11-05-2008, 11:00 AM sorry for posting. i had no idea that people werent supposed to know. they shouldnt have said anything to anyone.
HuJass 11-05-2008, 11:12 AM So did they just add blue or did they take another color away to make room for blue?
jcamere94z28 11-05-2008, 12:22 PM sweet! Thanks good news :)

it sounds like they are just adding blue
JasonD 11-05-2008, 03:21 PM Verified with Cheryl. Blue ordering sheets will be available mid-November. It takes a while to propogate the changes through the system.
All existing orders can be changed, so no worries to those who wanted blue!
The same goes for the polished wheels and the RS package, BTW.
99SilverSS 11-05-2008, 03:38 PM So which blue or will both be available?
For those at SEMA what color is GM calling the GS #6 Camaro?
Tsujin 11-05-2008, 05:27 PM Imperial Blue.
That's the Imperial Blue Metallic? Wow. I've found my color. I don't know why people are asking for a different shade of blue, that car is beautiful.
IPrice 11-05-2008, 05:53 PM There you go ladies.....
Now jump all over it, order up the blue cars! ..
..and if you ordered up IOM while awaiting the "blues" then here you go.
Let there be less of the IOM's so all of us that ordered the IOM cars all look so damn good!
lol,
Ivan
ChrisL 11-05-2008, 05:58 PM So which blue or will both be available?
we'd be out of line if we didn't heed the Camaro team's request to withold that info until the offical GM annoncement.
:)
just hold off on calling the dealer until the announcment from GM, including adding the polished wheels to the RS pkg.

Wow, I guess having the multiple threads complaining about not having blue on the SS really did some good. :)

Unfortunately, it probably won't result in me getting Jetstream Blue!
If that #6 camaro is imperial blue, me likey!
christianjax 11-06-2008, 12:20 PM Here's the picture of the #6 Blue Camaro. Now the mystery of why it is called "#6" is solved. ;)

There are REALLY good folks on the Camaro team at GM. Folks who are good at what they do.

HOW much LONGER though do we have to wait?
I have a complete updated order that I want to turn in....and the wheels are one of the main things...
When you are informed, please post up the day when you find out we can make those changes to our orders...
THANKS for all the info so far :D
ChrisL 11-06-2008, 06:08 PM The system updates are scheduled to happen sometime this month.
sphnx1989 11-06-2008, 07:40 PM I just called my dealer (b/c I wanted to change the exterior of my car from Silver to Cyber Grey) and my salesman and the person that does the order entry said that they cant because the order is in production. Im pretty sure they are mistaken, right??

Fbodfather 11-07-2008, 12:33 AM Angela - get your order in now with a different color - then change it around Thanksgiving.
As to the Sunoco car -- it is not Imperial Blue -- Imperial Blue is much darker-- we've offered it on Silverado/Tahoe/Suburban/TrailBlazer for a couple of years..........
Both Blues will be available on the SS - but the edit tables need to be updated and we only do that once a month.
90 Z28SS 11-07-2008, 01:35 AM The Blue on the #6 car looks to be 04-07 Vette Lemans Blue ...and it looks stunning on the 5th gen . I realize it wont happen for production , but stunning none the less .
christianjax 11-07-2008, 06:22 AM Not to sound like a whiner, but its still not the shade I was hoping for. Still too dark for my liking. But that's okay, I've kinda fallen for Inferno Orange at this point. Now if they decided to come out with Stryker or something very similar, then no contest.

That settles it for me then...
Its going to be an Aqua Blue Metallic 2SS/RS M6 with gray interior for me. (Still debating on whether or not I want stripes.) :D

Aww...knife through the heart. :(
Is it the same blue as the 2009 Cobalt like in this link? http://www.ecarlist.com/showroom/1329/photos/191341#01.jpg
If it is then I'll still probably get it in Imperial blue, though it is a bit darker than I would of liked. I still need to see some good pictures of the aqua blue though.

There seems to be conflicting information. Will both Aqua and Imperial be offered, or just the Imperial?

did you try reading this thread at all? It was stated, quoted atleast twice, and restated that both blues will be offered.

Simply answering "both", or not answering at all would have taken less of your time. Nonetheless, thanks for the reply.

Brangeta 11-08-2008, 04:05 PM On Chevy's website, they updated the color choices with more attractive photoshopped pictures. The colors ALL look better now, and I could settle for aqua, but I would still prefer Jetstream Blue so I'd be happy to keep the car 10 or more years!

It's sort of the same situation with the '09 Pontiac G8. It comes in a new blue color called Stryker Blue Metallic that looks pretty good, but not good enough for me to buy it. It's too BLUE in my opinion, like the dictionary definition of blue. Throw a little teal in the mix, or make it a little lighter, and I'd be trading in my Corolla for a better daily driver right now. Then, I'd trade the G8 in on a new Camaro in about 2012 when they offer more goodies and refinements for it.

Here's Jetstream Blue for comparison's sake.

On a sidenote, the inferno orange looks amazing in this photoshopped pic, but I would never buy an orange car no matter how delicious it looked. It does look the best of the colors offered though.

The car at Indy that was used to show Imperial Blue was a 2009 Cobalt.
So my guess is, yes, that is Imperial Blue.
