I've searched to find some of the answers, but I was wondering if anyone has put together a simple spreadsheet concerning all the different combo's of parts that can bolt on which block, etc.

I'm looking through GM-HTP at all the short blocks available for the LS platform and I'm confused. I plan on moving up to an LS series next year and want to know all my options. I want to start by buying a shortblock, but I need to know if I get a 2000 T/A for ex., what block can I put in it and what operating system will I need to use.

Something simple like this would be very helpful.

Block Heads Intake PCM
LS1 LS1 LS1 LS1
LS1 LS6 ? LS1
LS2 ? ? ?
LQ9 ? ? ?
LS3 ? ? ?
L92 L92 ? ?
LS7 ? ? ?

Unfortunately, it's nowhere near that simple. Way too many options and variables. However all the answers you seek are out there and are not hard to find. Keep on reading.

What is your goal and budget? That will narrow things down tremendously.

Plan: This winter. Buy 1999-2000 T/A and swap in my Ford 9", BMR Rear suspension parts, competition TH-350 w/ brake and aluminum drive shaft. Install roll cage, long tube headers, electric cutouts.

Next winter - Engine:400-427 forged short block, fully cnc ported heads, 250 N20 shot.
LS2 - LQ9 - LS3 - L92????
$10,000 - $15,000?

I'd like to purchase shortblock now ($5-6K), and buy the heads, intake, rockers, lifters etc, etc over the next year as money permits to have new engine in place by year two.

Would like a block and assembly to handle 1,000 HP, due to thoughts of replacing pistons and cam and adding centrifugal supercharger / turbo 2-3 years down the road.

I'm going to put it together over time, don't have the $15k in my pocket right now.
