Flycutting

Anybody here ever do it themselves???

I figured on Livernois Stage II LS6 heads for my new Cam (231/240 .643/.608 - 112) and I'm really wanting to either mill the heads to 59cc or run Cometics or hell even possibly do both.

Never flycutted pistons before though which I would probably have to do with any combination of the above. I "MIGHT" get away if I just use the Cometics given this particular head still used the 2.00" intake valve, but it will be damn close and I still better prepare to have to do it if the clearance doesn't check out good.

I'd prefer to do it in the car as I didn't plan on pulling the engine, but I guess if I have to I have to. Also, if anybody here had a shop do it what was the charge?

Thanks.

If you wanna half ass it, I believe they make pieces you can use with a drill but you still have to remove the head to get the bit into the cylinder.

If it was my engine, I wouldnt risk it and would pull it out and have it done by a shop that knows what they're doing. To really do it right, after fly cutting you really need to re-balance the rotating assembly to make sure its not off b/c of not taking the same amount off of each piston.

Welcome to making HP, its an expensive hobby !
