Who wants the HUD system available ASAP?linkwpc 10-14-2008, 11:55 PM just wondering now many people really want this HUD system? I'm one of those people that really want the HUD available ASAP! So speak your mind! Lets tell GM what we want! BitchinCamaro 10-15-2008, 01:59 AM Nope, because it means something else would be delayed to make up for it. They only have so much time and money to put into the car. The sooner its on the streets the better. I don't think the Camaro Team just decided they would rather play golf or something on the day they were supposed to design the HUD. I am sure it was a calculated decision weighing the trade offs of having it at launch or not. If it was available I would have ordered it, and I understand its frustrating and worth waiting for to some people. But rest assured, GM isn't holding it back just to piss people off while they laugh maniacally. Pruettfan 10-15-2008, 02:06 AM I am 100% certain that if GM could have the HUD availible at launch they would. The fact is that GM does not make the actual parts that go into the cars. Because they are made by suppliers and all suppliers have limitations it is likely that this is one of the key issues. The other factor is that if the HUD is only availible in very limited numbers it would be a big distraction that would not be worth the hassle. Lastly the Corvette's with a HUD have a different windsheild than the cars without. I have read that there is a special film that allows the HUD to display more clearly on those windsheilds. So now you have two major components to worry about at the launch of a car. I want a HUD for my car but it aint gonna happen so no reason to get too upset about it. Steve in Seattle 10-15-2008, 02:25 AM Yeah, HUD a cool 80's effect, but it just hasn't taken off in the market. I think the cooler option really is the Caddy's Near Infra-Red nightvision camera HUD. Now THAT is a bad ass option. linkwpc 10-16-2008, 02:58 PM I'm not really upset. But not really happy as well. I think waiting about 6 months after the car come out is fine. But waiting two years for until the MY2011 model is just too long!! linkwpc 10-19-2008, 06:36 PM BUMP~! Vote! so we can tell GM what we really think! linkwpc 10-28-2008, 03:12 PM Bump!!!! brooklyn2 10-28-2008, 09:42 PM Yes please JeremyNYR 10-29-2008, 07:58 AM BUMP~! Vote! so we can tell GM what we really think! did you even read the responses you received? It can not be done faster than currently planned, no matter how much you petition GM to make it happen. Don't you think they have more pressing issues than speeding up the addition of HUD to the new Camaro? If you like the new Camaro and you like HUD, then you should be ecstatic that there IS a new Camaro and it WILL have HUD available at ANY time! linkwpc 10-29-2008, 07:38 PM Read them. But that will not stop me from trying. Its better to try then do nothing. Atleast I'm trying. Gm may never read this but at least some one tried. So I will keep tiring because you never know who is reading this. Supermans 10-30-2008, 07:23 AM I think GM is missong out on many many people who potentially would pre-order their camaro's with the HUD option, even if it cost an extra $500, I would pay for it.. JeremyNYR 10-30-2008, 10:04 AM linkwpc, I think you're closer to beating your head against the wall with this one. supermans, they may lose some pre-orders, but those people will only be delaying their purchase until the HUD is available. Anyone that says "I won't buy a Camaro at all because HUD isn't available at the start of production!" wasn't seriously going to buy a Camaro to begin with and only wanted to cite a reason other than "I can't afford it". out of curiousity, does Mustang or Challenger offer or plan to offer HUD? linkwpc 10-30-2008, 03:04 PM That ok with me. It does not hurt to try. The problem I'm having with the HUD is not that it will not be available in the start of the production, but that it will be available 2 years later! Thats my problem! I can wait a year but two? Now thats too much! For now the stang and the challenger, do not offer HUDs. JeremyNYR 10-31-2008, 12:18 PM That ok with me. It does not hurt to try. I was under the impression that it would be available during the 2010 model year, just not at SOP GTODan 10-31-2008, 01:34 PM Nope, pushed back to 6/2010 or start of 2011 MY. wilkes314 04-26-2009, 12:29 PM My vote is YES BigDarknFast 04-30-2009, 10:02 PM I read an online Camaro review recently this week, wish I could remember where... and it said HUD (late availability). I wonder if that means late in the 2010 model year? I thought I read on here it would be in the 2011 model year? speeding2fast2c 05-01-2009, 11:17 AM The way that I understood the whole thing, was that they will be offering the HUD in the late 2010 Year (not model year) so it will be availible for the 2011 models. Now if something else about it has recently came out, I have not heard. I'm not going to speculate as to what is or is not delaying the HUD option for the Camaro. Let's put it this way, I would really like it in my Camaro that I'm planning on getting, so I am ok with waiting for now. For some reason people seem to be under the impression that anyone who wants to wait for the HUD system or any other options they want in THEIR car, that apparently means they can't afford the car! PLEASE, can the people who think like this keep your opinion to yourself?!? Or, to put in bluntly.....SHUT THE 773H UP!!! Let people get what they want, that is half the fun of buying a brand new car, or any car for that matter. It's not a matter of if I can afford the car or not, I could pay for it in full this minute if i wanted to, it's the idea of getting what you want sometimes means being patient. If GM ends up saying NOPE never going to happen for the HUD system to be on the Camaro, well I will be at the dealer the next day to put my order in for one a Camaro with all of the other options I want!! BigDarknFast 05-02-2009, 12:26 AM Thanks for the feedback, speeding2. And I agree with most of what you said. Take your time and get the Camaro of your dreams. I'm really hoping for the HUD too. prophet33 05-06-2009, 11:37 PM ill just pay the extra money n have it put in Pruettfan 05-18-2009, 06:11 PM In the book that was just published Cheryl P. addresses the HUD. It was originally planned to be availible but in an effort to cut the parts count and reduce cost it was taken out. She says that that decision was reversed and it will be availble after all. Everything I have read is it will be avail in December so hopefully that will happen. I am waiting till the HUD is availible which is also likely when prices will soften a bit. | ||
