Prices seem pretty much as expected. Just now need to know how much it is added when you select the RS package.

As well as the 2SS package. I think the 2SS will be no more than $2K more, RS about $500 - $700.

Damn, you just beat me to it, was just about to post this link! Actually not too bad, now let's hope the 2SS is less than $2K more, and RS is no more than $700 or so!

So is this the big announcement from the podcast tomorrow morning, or is there something else?

31 grand for a no option 1SS? Hmmm, I wonder what a loaded 2SS will be?

Edit:I guess that's about right, I was suprised to see how much Mustangs are these days. Of course, no one is paying sticker, so the price disparity will be even greater. I hope that doesn't put too much of a dent in Camaro sales. I would expect to pay about 35k for a loaded 2SS, beware.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume that's the big news we were all waiting to hear on the podcast. Guess we'll all sleep a little better than the folks waiting till morning.

Camaro SS, priced at $30,995: $77.50 per horse of power.
Mustang GT, priced at $26,425: $88.08 per horse.
You're welcome for the obscure horsepower-to-value statistic. Looks like I just might be hitting up the dealership tomorrow.

Almost $23k for the BASE model? I know I could go out and get a BASE mustang for $20k. That's a $3k or 15% price difference, 3 times more than the $1k or 5% hinted at. Unless they expect the price of the mustang to come up $2k before they start selling these...

Yuck, why would you compare the two,for 3K grand more, you IRS,6speeds and 90 more HP with a 4 cam caddy engine compared to a truck engine.............................3K seems pretty reasonable.

Yeah, maybe you should be making your comparison to the base 300hp Mustang...

bc the general buying public couldnt care less about any of that for v6's except maybe the hp number.

i dont think the price for the v6 is bad at all. i was hoping for a cheaper ss. that might have just knocked me out considering i want the 2ss:(

Hmmmm...I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed. I was hoping for the base prices to squeak in at about $1k less each. Not really a deal killer or anything, just that's what I was hoping. Maybe I'll feel better about it once I see a production car with my own eyes.

I don't know,i have a feeling if the general public drove the cars back to back, the price wouldn't make a difference, especially if GM rebates the V6(which it will do in a year or so)like Ford rebates the Stang V6. We may be looking at a 300HP car for under 20K soon.......shew,that is impressive. Ford better step up!

Not till '11 unless Ford fast tracks something powerwise for '10 (which its pretty much been confirmed that '10 is gonna be a carryover year for powetrains), and as fars as IRS I doubt you will see anything from Ford until the GRWD platform (which I gotta wonder given the present economic environment will appear on schedule in the next coupla years).

I cant wait to see all the V6 vs GT stoplight action, should be pretty entertaining (if predictable) based on that advertised 300hp rating for both cars.

^The 3500 pound Mustang GT should win that one. The V6 Camaro will be in the 14s (1/4 mile).

 think of the buying public. They care more about looks and gas mileage than what type of V6 is under the hood. 6speed is a wash since it will likely be a auto anyways. IRS might be nice, but i that's hardly a selling point for most people.

Price however is a BIG selling point. They look at the two and wonder is it worth paying at least an extra 15%!!! Some will say yes, but I'm afraid that number might be a bit too big for a lot of "normal" people to swallow considering the times...

C&D figured a second slower for the V6 F5, internet drag racers and thier warped perspective aside, thats pretty darn good performance for what amounts to entry level performance car.

If you compare the Camaro to other coupe offerings on the market with their higher end engines (Accord, Altima, 350Z, RX8) it is very competitive.

I could see people looking for a 'sporty' car and looking at the numbers of the rx-8 and the Camaro. Not so much the Accord, and kinda iffy about the Altima(I've driven the 3.5 SE and I REALLY liked it, but it's not really sporty), but if it drives as well as some of the reviewers say it does, then I can definately see people at least comparing the Camaro.

FWD sedan, RWD coupe. Boring, Exciting. Just to name a couple.

Do you really think the majority of people out there can tell you which wheels drive their car or much less even care?

The Accord and Altima are pushing 270hp. My mom's is an M6 and is plenty fun to drive. FWD still sucks though.
