Nitrous Blues

Man I have been on the phone with about all the major piston makers today and nobody has an off the shelf "Nitrous piston" and if they do they are all HI-comp pistons like 13.6 with a 64cc chamber. Nothing thats suitable for a LT-1 platform. Ross and weisco both offered to make custom pistons for about 1,000.00 but I really hadn't intended to spend that much. I figured someone would have a off the shelf flatop that could hold some spray.. Oh well guess I'll have to save a little longer..:rolleyes: Anyone got a Idea of a piston -5cc that will hold a 200 to 300 max shot

BME made me a set for $650, but that was 8 years ago.

Just get a good set and get them gas ported, thats all you need for 300 shot...... After seeing what some people get away with a 300 is not a real big shot.

Gas port and ring gap, I say you will be o.k.

Then again you could spend a grand on custom pistons and blow it up first pass too.....

With the tune being the most important issue, why not get an off the shelf piston? I don't think you're in Pro Mod territory with multiple kits. I wouldn't hesitate to jet 2-300 on a Diamond/JE/Ross/BME/Venolia/. Of course I'd start small and be really careful. The piston is rarely the problem....case in point below:

LS1 guys are hitting stock pistons with 200-300 and a safe tune with great results. :D I think any of the Diamond pistons are good for 200-300 but you could ask Mike...

Well thats basiclly who I called was diamond ross, je and wiseco I think im just going to go with the mahle's that come with the compstar kit and spray them people say they wont handle a 200 shot but I know people spraying 125 on the stock hyper pistons What good is a forged piston if it wont handle at least 200?

I did this ;) bought JE piston with a 3cc dome, had the domes cut off. So if I snap a piston now, ill have to rebuy a 3cc dome, and get it cut off.

Call Nelson at Arias Pistons and ask him if they have anything.

OR do a little research and find how far down the ring lands are down and the thickness of the top of the piston as well as the piston material. Then make your selection.
