Im looking to get a hand gun for my father as an after Christmas, Christmas present.
He has said over and over again, that he would like a 357 magnum or something. He doesnt go hunting as much anymore so he wants to something he can have fun with at a gun range or something, or just basicly to show off :)
So where should i look and what do i need to know, as i really do not know what i need to be looking for as quality for the money.

I assume since he wants a .357 magnum, that he wants a revolver.
I had a Smith & Wesson .357. it had the 6 inch barrel, stainless finish with good grips. gorgeous gun
If he wants a revolver to show off with, you can't go wrong with a Ruger Blackhawk.
If an auto loader is ok, then there are several options. The Glock 10mm is pretty popular right now. I enjoyed my ruger P90 .45ACP as well.
And for pure "wow" value, there are a few out there, though I can't recall the manufacturer, that have the barrel lower in the gun so it is more center to the palm of the hand. MAkes for low kick and really looks slick. For some reason the name Mateba comes to mind.

If you want to show off, the Magnum Research Desert Eagle is the way to go. I have shot the 44 mag and own the 9mm baby eagle. These are realy smooth reliable guns and VERY accurate.

The nice thing about getting a .357 Magnum is that when you're shooting just for fun and don't want to break your wrist, you can shoot .38 Special. When you want some stopping power, you can shoot .357 Magnum. :)

desert eagles are cool, but aren't they over a grand. A little pricey, but I have wanted one since I was like 10.
