Finally! Great shots of Silver SS

Many thanks to fellow disciple KevinK for taking these GREAT shots at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, and GM for allowing these pictures to be released today. Anyone saving pics, it was made very clear by GM to give credit to Kevin Kolvenbach if you post them elsewhere. Dont be putting your wartermarks on them and rehosting them.

Functional or not, I still like the slot to set apart the SS. Maybe these pics will change the minds of a few of the SS grill & "scoop" haters.

thats correct... and its kinda too bad that the halos arent standard, even though i do understand why... The halos just blow the standard lights out of the water in terms of looks...

I'm sure that there will be aftermarket SS emblems to replace the bowtie in the grille and on the tail. It's would be a great heritage cue having the SS in the grille, but since this is kind of a halo car for Chevy I think they want people to identify with it as a Chevrolet first and foremost, so they're sticking with the signature gold bowtie as the primary emblem with SS being smaller.

i agree. the brand is kinda in the dumpster, it needs a pick me up to get people to see value in it again.

:peh, at this point, the size thing kind of lost its lustre. the whole point of it (from my take of it atleast) was that it was hoped to be small, meaning it would be lighter.

We were taking some pics of the SS, ...and Dave came around with the Vette, ...so we took a couple shots.

If the mailslot was functional then it would be important but since it isn't I could live without it. I feel the same way. I was just looking at the thread regarding the C&D article and the V6's frt fascia looks better. Also, I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but the fogs on the SS are farther apart, seems it's because they needed the lower grille to be taller and wider either for cooling or for differentiation.
The upper grille would not look as bad if the parking lamps weren't there. It just doesn't seem right being the size and position they are at. Maybe if they put that 3 row grille on the prototype as an option and change the parking lamp to be in the 2nd row only on, it might look a lot better. Or if anything maybe take off the top parking light on the current grille.

Love the pictures. Thanks to all of you who made them possible to be released. I can see the differences in the front fascia between the LT and SS but I have to say I am fine with both. Personally I look at the car as a whole knowing that there are small details that I may not love but overall I love this car and cannot wait to have one in my hands. I don't compare the car to the concept because this is a production car so it has to hold up to far more requirements to survive the elements and be safe. Can't wait to see the SS in Red and one in Imperial Blue so I can make my color decision.

Id like to see a picture with the current 5th Gen SS the #6 69 Sunoco car and the C6 ZR1 in one shot.

The new Camaro looks stunning as usual. But, I'm a little surprised that the SS isn't dressed up in "RS" uniform for it's first dance on the internet. And very surprised that it chose to wear silver.

The base SS is making my right foot twitch, but honestly, the RS/LT cars have more visual pop wearing their HID's, red badging, and "young" colors. Where's the RS/SS?

Seems to me that this SS is probably the same one used on the TV Show My Own Worst Enemy and seen in the ad with Fergie. So that means to me that this silver SS is a IVER car pre-built for show purposes only and that they probably don't have any finished SS/RS models available to show just yet.

Since it was a 'marketing' opportunity, ...my understanding is that that car was allowed to go for filming, ...and viewing on national TV.
The shots here are not 'official' GM photos, ...just some amatuer photographer (me) trying to take some shots. Indeed, I awaited Scott's OK to share them, ...and I think it's just that. In typical Scott fashion, ...he's doing his best to pass on what he can to the enthusiasts as soon as he can. I agree with you, ...when GM does reveal 'official' photos of the SS, ...I think it would serve them better to have the RS variety, ...to show a 'fully dressed' SS...

I saw that picture and got excited until I realized the camaro was further back. I would be very interested to see a true nose to nose shot. I can't wait to see this car on the ground...I've only see the concept up on a stage...

Cool info. I dont know. My first thought were the pics were they were motor trend quality. I really like how Motor Trend makes vehicles look. If I had to nit pick Id say you cut a bit much off the bottom of the tires in some. Black SS with the Halos would have been sweet, but I think you did a great job. Thanks for sharing!

Has anyone seen the Lord of the Rings? Near the beginning of the first film, Gandalf and Frodo are sitting next to eachother in a wooden carriage with Frodo obviouslly being the smaller of the two. In real life the actor who plays Frodo is not that small, and that scene that they shot was not manipulated by a computer...what they did was they built the carriage in a funny way where Frodo sat a few feet further back than Gandalf to throw the perspective off, hence making Frodo look smaller.

It is possible that that is what is happening in this particular photo with the Camaro being parked farther back than the Vette, making the Camaro look smaller. Just an idea, because I somehow doubt that the Corvette is that big in comparison.

Why doesn't the SS have real cuts on the front of the rear fender? Those fake ones should be for the V6 IMOP!!!! The more pics I see the less I see a MEAN ASS KICKING CAMARO that I've been dreaming of.

From pics and the TV show trailers of "My Own Worst Enemy" the silver SS appears to be very much like this one. No halo headlights and the SS badging is silver/chrome as opposed to red as was to be the designation for the RS/SS Camaros.

All I see is it's a "ss" emblem instead of "rs" and what appears to be the hood from the concept with the slot in the nose... I just don't see what is so different? What happened to the stripes were heard about?

There's an altogether different front facia between the them:
There's the upper scoop, as you mentioned, but in addition, the fog lights are pushed to the closer to the edges, and there's an added crease above each one. Then there's a larger air dam and sort of a chin-spoiler, too.

afaik, the stripes (concept convertible style, or "hockey-stick") are available on any model, and aren't standard on the SS.

New SS looks great but I think GM should bring out the Z28 first that is the only name plate that belongs to camaro only SS is on to many cars,trucks,suv. FBodfather (Scott Settlemire) has said that the Z28 isn't cancelled, but we don't know what, or when it will be. But if Scott says it's coming - it's coming.

I believe you mean the V6 grill, or LS/LT grill when you say "RS grill". RS is an appearance package that can be added to the LT or SS models. the RS package doesn't change the front nose of the car outside of the RS badge being present. RS does not designate the V6 or the model like it did on the 4th gens.

I'm glad I'm holding off to buy an 2011 - 2012 SS.

Hideaway headlamps are illegal now.
