bigsjk 08-24-2008, 06:55 PM What is the range of drivers that can comfortably fit in the car? (height & width)
Will there be tilt & telescoping for the steering wheel?
Will there be huge side pockets on the doors to limit the hip room?

Rick wagnor is over 6ft (6ft 7 if I remember correctly)and he fit just fine
Yes There will be tilt & telescoping for the steering wheel
Nope, no huge side pockets. Here is what the interior looks like

A couple of the disciples are over 6' tall, here is a post made by one...
I'm 6'1" and there was ample room for me, as well as a couple of the other guys who are taller than I am. To my mind, there was a very open feel to the cabin while sitting in the driver's seat. It is more of an upright seating position than that of my 4th Gen.
If your height is in your torso, the headroom will be a bit tighter than if your height is in your legs. There is a ton of legroom - so much so that I really had to move the seat far up from the back position. I have a 33" inseam, if that gives you a better perspective...
My only regret was not bringing a helmet to Milford so that I could check out headroom while wearing one!;)
It should be OK!
Best regardSS,
Elie
The other questions where answered above. :)
AdioSS 08-25-2008, 01:53 AM how about for those of us that are wider than average...
Grape Ape 08-25-2008, 04:00 PM how about for those of us that are wider than average...
I have no idea how wide you are, but I think that you are part of a bigger (if you'll pardon the pun) demographic than the tall folks and GM must know that...
AdioSS 08-25-2008, 06:45 PM I don't know my exact measurements and this isn't a dating service :p

This is how I am comparing currently...
Test subject: Me
Height: 6' 4"
Weight: *cough* 235 lbs
2006 Evo 2010 Camaro
Front head room 40 " ---- 37.4"
Rear head room 37 " ---- 35.3"
Front shoulder room 54 " ---- 56.9"
Rear shoulder room 53 " ---- 42.5"
Front hip room 51 " ----
Rear hip room 50 " ----
Front leg room 43.0 "---- 42.4"
Rear leg room 36.6 " ---- 29.9"
As you can see from my crappy attempt at a chart.... They are fairly close in the front cockpit area.
With my seat all the way back leg room is not too much of an issue. If I slouch, my knees are bent a little more than I like but not bad for a manual tranny. Long drives are a different story.
Not sure about the shoulder room numbers, the Evo has Recaros' and even though I am a bit soft in the middle the fit is perfect.
Head room is not an issue at all due to the seats sitting very low.
Rear is a different story, but I don't sit back there so it's not my problem.
Overall the Camaro is much wider, so I can't see too much of an isuue side to side.
I could be wrong. After all... My wife tells me I'm wrong 99.9% of the time.
missmy79 09-22-2008, 10:14 AM my big thing is that my left arm should comfortably rest on the arm rest and not be forced to the window sill. I really felt cramped in the 4th get in that regard. It's actually what kept me from buying one.
JasonD 09-22-2008, 10:30 AM Chris Frezza mentioned this in the Podcast that was released today (http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=636798).
Let me tell you, there is more room in [the Camaro] then there is in my [C6] Vette.
He's 6'-4" and well over 225 lbs. He got in and out comfortably. He moved the seat back as far as it would go, and he actually had to move it forward again to put his feet on the pedals properly. Headroom was fine. The tilt and telescoping steering wheel settings had enough movement so that driving position was comfortable for him and he could see all gauges clearly.
Big folks, worry not. You will fit fine unless you are gargantuan, and if that is the case, you probably won't fit in many cars anyway.
Black5thgen 09-23-2008, 04:13 PM I would like to see the shoulder room numbers of the 5th gen compared to the 4th gen. This is a big concern to me. I have excellent shoulder room in the 4th gen, the C6 is a little tight but very acceptable, and the C5 sucks.

ummm...I kinda am "gargantuan" (yup, no PC here!) at 350 lbs...but I was quite comfortable in my 1998 Regal and am mostly comfortable my 2005 Allure.
Anybody know the interior specs against a '98 Regal GS?
bigsjk 10-05-2008, 05:37 PM Hi All,
Well I am car shopping as my lease is up on my Allure.
I drove a G8 yesterday and I have to say two very negative things that I hope are not in the Camaro:
Pedals are waaaay too close together...I actually got my foot (ok size 14 but that shouldn't matter) stuck trying to brake.
Tilt/telescoping lever at the bottom of the column and way back, not very easy to use....also one lever for both. I had a hard time adjusting the wheel because the damn lever was way out of reach, and also one lever for both?
Other than that the G8 is a very nice car...and I only drove the V6...plenty of power.
My 2 cents.
97QuasarBlue3.8 10-31-2008, 12:33 AM I think there's a modern trend in vehicle design to include more vital room for occupants in a crash. More head room, more room between the dash and the knees, more distance between the head and roof rails and window glass, more adjustability in steering wheels and pedals.
The GTI, which is a classically "small" car, that also has all the new safety requirements including elevated hood height, high beltline on the doors, etc...I can't push in the clutch when the seat is all the way back or reach the wheel when it's all the way in. I'm 6'4" and 230lbs right now, and most of that is legs.
The Camaro looks as though it will be accommodating with all the new safety requirements. It's a much bigger car than the GTI with seemingly more upright dimensions on a longer and wider chassis. I'm thinking I could possibly feel like I'm driving a big kid's car again looking over that long hood. And that's a great feeling.
The 4th gen had extreme limitations making it almost unsafe for larger/taller drivers. The driver's seat (with no headrest) had to be leaned back in order to accommodate taller heads and bigger bellies. The roofline tapered inward making the t-top or roof rail uncomfortably close. The steering wheel did not telescope, making it uncomfortable for taller/bigger drivers to reach when they were practically sitting in the back seat.
In other words, vehicle design has come a long way. The 4th gen was designed well over 13 years prior to the design of the 5th gen. You'll be fine :)
slingshot 10-31-2008, 01:05 AM If you like the car just make yourself fit, maybe with a few modifications...tilting the seat back, moving it all the way back. I mean, I am 6' 6" 230 lbs, and i actually fit pretty nicely in my 93....i know the seat foam is worn in, but hey. I would still buy the new camaro even if I had to squeeze in a little...its a price to pay to drive a nice, fast car.
I'm a long legged 6'8" and there are additional factors that go into how a vehcile works for a tall person, other than just leg and headroom numbers.
I didn't buy a 4th gen because:
The windshield header was in my forehead, and made it hard to see overhead stoplights. 4th gen windshield was raked back 68 degrees compared to 3rd gens 64 degrees.
4th gen had a low rearview mirror, blocking my forward vision.
Looking at the 5th gen I think I should be able to fit.
But the rearview mirror looks low and with the low area above it i may not be able to raise it up like i have in my GTO.
Looks like an improvemnet over 4th gen though.
A pillar looks huge and will probably block some of my side vision.
That is always a little scary when dealing with pedestrians in crosswalks.
Side roof header looks like it will be close to my head but windshield header is lifted up and away which should help with upward vision for stoplights.
This is an improvement over the concept and the 4th gen.
Hope this helps some of the tall people.

Good Ph.D 01-23-2009, 08:56 PM 6'8" 280, I got in just fine. Had to let the seat all the way down and back to get really comfortable, but I liked it. Headroom was fine even with the sunroof.
Of course, I would, as usual, have to stop 15 feet before traffic lights, but you know...
97z28/m6 01-24-2009, 01:24 PM i just hope the seats go low enough.
79Zee28 02-01-2009, 02:10 PM I just sat in one this past weekend in Philly. Thanks for all of those who made it possible. I'm 5' 10" and felt great in the front. I especially liked that I was not shoulder to shoulder with the passenger. I would probably NOT order a sunroof because it really does cut down the headroom. The sun visor is really tiny as is the mirror in it. It would not really work too well if you moved it to the driver window to block the sun. I did like the view out the side view mirror. You get a great view of the rear quarter! As far as the back seats, they are really tight. My 2nd Gen is MUCH better. I understand that we are not buying this car for the back seat. However, if you have kids and want to take them for a ride, it will be really tight. I would suggest a rear seat cushion that indents (as opposed to being flat) to gain more rear head room. I would even like to see (at least) the passenger seat automatically move forward when you exit the rear seat. I did like the flip down rear seat. Although the opening of the trunk is small, the trunk is a nice size. With the rear seat folded down, you can actually carry some stuff. I went to compare the interior size to a Challenger that was at the show. The Challenger does indeed have the most room inside. The back is the most pleasant and the trunk is huge. I prefer the Camaro overall but, the Challenger is by far the most 4 passenger/cargo friendly.

You got a problem with fat chicks buddy?
sui_winbolo 02-27-2009, 01:18 AM I feel sorry for you tall guys.
I'm 6'1", I'm glad I don't have those issues with vehicles or anything like that.
Though I'm sure it's awesome being that tall for playing basketball. :p
Capn Pete 02-27-2009, 01:45 AM I got to check out a base SS the other day, and the power seat seems to go VERY low. I'm pretty sure that with it in its lowest position, it allows more head room than in my 4th-gen . The seat ALSO goes very HIGH ;) ... high enough my head was getting rammed into the roof!! Overall, I'd say there is a feeling of more room inside the 5th-gen than the 4th, although this wasn't a side-by-side or back-to-back comparison .
97z28/m6 02-27-2009, 10:26 PM don't forget pete the manual seats in the 4th gen are lower then your power one.....;)
AdioSS 02-28-2009, 09:15 AM I remember this thread :)
I've posted my thoughts on my fitting in the Camaro elsewhere, but for the sake of repetition, I had no problem with getting comfortable in the Camaro. The door sills are a bit taller than what I'm used to, but that just tells me that the car was built very strong.
I fit in the Camaro driver's seat better than I fit into my wife's 04 Impala. I do wish I would have tested out the passenger side since the front passenger seat of the Impala is dreadful to me :o
And to answer my own question from once upon a time, the Camaro is a lot easier to get into than a C6 Corvette. The driving position is more comfortable also.
woodsripper 04-10-2009, 11:17 PM I am 6' 3", 195 lbs with a 36" inseam. I work for a supplier to the 2010 Camaro. We had several cars at our company and I have spent two weeks driving a V-8 manual trans car. The head room is adequate for me, but someone who has a taller torso would not fit very well. The car we had did not have a sunroof, but the steering wheel did tilt/telescope. Overall, the car was comfortable and fun to drive. My only complaint is the rather large blind spot over your shoulders. It is difficult to see if someone is next to you when making a lane change. Motorcycles will be definitely hard to see.
I'm more concerned with the rear view mirror and top of the b pillar blocking my vision.
