With Pontiac releasing the G8 GXP with similar power numbers...manual tranny, and the Zeta chassis making it basically a 4 door Camaro with more rear seat and trunk space (assumed) for hopefully a similar if slightly higher price and similar handling....is anyone else thinking it's going to be a tough choice between the 2 just for the fact of the extra space and utility of the G8...or am I the only one :P

I'm a Camaro enthusiast and I'm buying a Camaro for what it is and couldn't care less about room. Besides 2 doors on a sports car is FAR better looking.
If I'd start to think about trunk and rear legroom why not start thinking about a challenger, mustang or even the charger 4 door?

G8 GXP - 4023lb
camaro ss - 3860lb
GXP its a 4 door car almost 200 lb heavier than the 2 door camaro SS, I don`t see any problem. diferent targets..
GXP= you have kids
SS= you have friends (or another car :D )
This one is a tough call for me. I really want a new camaro, but I have 2 kids. I can either w/ v8 & M6. Of course, the wifey wants me to get a 4 dr.

Hah, your crazy man, the Mustang has a canyon like 1" extra :D
The sad part, I've read a post where somebody considers 1" of extra leg room to be a real plus. :think:
If I was thinking rear leg room (or transporting rear seat passengers in modicum of comfort) in a 2d coupe, I'd be checking out the Challenger. Otherwise G8/Charger all the way.
I may have to make a decision like this. I really like the styling of the G8, probably more so than the Camaro (which I still think is good looking).
Then again, I'm young and don't have a family to accommodate, and you only live once, so I may lean towards a Camaro. Fuel mileage, insurance rates, and final sale price will also be important factors.

They are both good cars and really you can't bash either one. Its all about if you want four doors or two when it come down to it. I think their are a quiet a few people will have the G8 as the runner up when it comes to choosing a new car.

it depends on whether or not I have any kids by the time I'm ready to buy a new car...
