If you plan to use street tires dont run threw the water box, avoid it and go around it yes you can do a burn out and heat them up a bit so you can hopefully get a decent 60ft. As for breaking anything I thought it with street tires unless your hitting the rev limter all the way don't the track.

do a small quick burn out. Really your just cleaning off the tires. Lower the air pressure in the rear to 24psi. Jack up the fronts to 42. drop the front sway bar, spare and jack, all seats except driver. Than your good to go.
Good luck bud.

1st time.. Some of these may be obvious but I've seen alot of wierd things happen at the track over the years..in no particular order.
1) Make sure you are familiar with how to stage a car
...what the difference between deep and shallow staging is.
2) Learn about the different tree types.. ie if it's a Pro Tree or not, and when to leave the line depending on the tree type.
3) Make sure you are aware of where the end of the track turn off is, and where to shut down.
4) Make sure you have a legal helmet.
5) No shorts
6) No hands out the windows
7) Make sure you car doesn't leak
8) Have a catch can on your radiator
9) Proper shoes (closed toe)
10) Don't mount any "fuel related" things on your fire wall... ie fuel pressure regulator
11) Have AAA or a friend with a trailer in case you break.
12) Good to have... Spare belts, water, oil, trans fluid, brake fluid, small jack, basic tools, away to put air back in tire, zip ties, duct tape, electrical tape, fire extinguisher, bags of ice (hot lapping won't do you any good)
13) Do a quick scrub w/street tires to get any rocks/dirt off them.
14) If your battery is relocated make sure you have a kill switch that is clearly marked.
Basically first thing you want to do.. Is just take a test run don't worry about tire pressure burnout etc. Just a quick tire scrub, and get the feel of staging, watching the lights, launching ect.. Use this as a baseline, next run, try changing 1 thing. If your time improves make another adjustment, take it slow if you change to much at once you won't know what caused you time improvements.

Although its to late, ill run through my first time
Got to the track
watched some people run, kinda taught myself what to do the track had people telling each driver when to pull up, how far to pull up for the burn out. I did a hefty burn out in the water box no reason cause I had street tires, but it was fun. Then comes the staging lights, them little guys are a beach to hit the first time, I deep staged then waited and went. Im not sure who determens who turns off the track first, I always kinda asumed the winner went first.

Proper track edicate is for the lane nearest the turn off to go first. That way you never cross in front of the other car. That way if the brakes go out or the drover has a medical problem then you're not going to get hit.
An example would be on a test and tune night you line up against a 8 second turbo car. Lights come down and you leave. He has problems with his turbo spooling up and leaves way late. You go thru the traps first so you go to turn across his lane and bam he broad sides you at 170mph because his chute didn't open. His bad day at the track turns into your nightmare.
