Q: What is this all about?

CamaroZ28.Com has once again partnered with GreenLight Toys (http://www.greenlighttoys.com) to produce a Limited Edition 1/64 scale Custom Die-Cast Camaro!


Q: Series Three? HUH?

Series III...the third in the series. The first version (here (http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=508310)) was so fun for me to do and sold so well that it became a series. The second version (here (http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=544551)) followed early this year and also sold out. The third version is what this thread is about and it is gonna be pretty kick ass. The design has been done and the artwork has been submitted and now production will start very soon[s] has started.


Q: How will it be similar to the first two versions?

Same price ($9.99 plus shipping)
Each one individually serial numbered
First 10% of run will come with certificate of authenticity, hand numbered to match the corresponding car serial number.
Certificates are signed by Chris Frezza and myself.
All Green Machines will also have their own unique certificate of authenticity, signed by us as well.
Custom car design and wheels, etc.
Special CamaroZ28.Com graphics, text, etc. on both sides of the packaging, including matching trading card
Officially Licensed by GM!

Q: How will it be different from the first two versions?

My minimums went up. There will approximately 2,000 made total. I am not worried, though...I think this one will do just fine.
LESS than 5% will be Green Machines
Much cooler packaging! Wait until you see it!


Q: So what about the design?

:cool: The speculation on this one has been pretty cool to watch, and this one is definitely the most anticipated so far. It WILL be a 5th gen Camaro of course, but it will not be a convertible like Series II. It will be a coupe like the first one. In typical CamaroZ28.Com style, the car color, wheels, graphics, packaging will all be new and unique. What color will it be? Not black like the first one and not white like the second one. :) Once again, I took major elements from one VERY famous and historic classic Camaro and a couple of minor elements from a similarly matching late model Camaro and merged those elements with a 5th gen Camaro. Die-hard Camaro enthusiasts from both ends of the spectrum will love this car. Once again, I am doing this to show possibility and generate excitement for the upcoming Camaro and I believe I have succeeded even better this time than with the first two versions.

Q: When [s]will was the design be released?

Design was released 11:59pm EST Saturday night, September 6, 2008. Pre-ordering was also be opened up at that time.
I am expecting the confirmation that production has started any day now. Once I get that confirmation, I will release the 3D rendering that the car was based on. Steven Whitaker once again provided his killer talents for this image, which is also on the trading card. At 11:59pm EST Saturday night, September 6, 2008, pre-ordering will be opened up at http://www.cz28store.com. You can now pre-order yours!
Approximately one to two weeks after production has started and the design has been released, pre-ordering will be opened up. I will more than likely open up pre-ordering at 11:59pm EST on a Saturday night so most people can get the jump on it without being late for work the next day. :cool:

Q: Why do I want to pre-order?

Pre-ordering is encouraged. Since the cars are individually numbered, they will be sold in order as close to sequentially as possible, starting at the lowest number. The sooner your orders gets in, the lower your serial number will be. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control there is no guarantee of particular numbers. This one is expected to sell out quickly.
Also, like before, every 25th car ordered up to the first 500 also gets a free highly valuable and rare Green Machine version added to their order.


Q: After I order, when will I get mine?

We are expecting them to start shipping approximately 4-8 weeks after pre-ordering is opened up, which would put order fulfillment dates of around mid-late October. While this is the goal, it can always change due to unforseen circumstances.


Q: What is a "Green Machine"?

Green Machine versions are GreenLight's special edition separate numbered run, and can be considered in this case to be a "limited edition of the limited editions". They will account for LESS than 5% of the regular production run of the CamaroZ28.Com cars. They are VERY rare and valuable. They will come with a matching signed certificate of authenticity as mentioned above.


Q: Okay, how do I get the "Green Machine" version?

Every 25th pre-ordered regular production car (based on car serial number up to the first 500) will get a CamaroZ28.Com Green Machine version to go along with it absolutely FREE (a total of 20 free Green Machines - the "Lucky 20"). If you aren't one of the Lucky 20 but still want one, a few will be made available at CZ28Store.Com.


Q: How do I know if my order made it in? What serial number will I get?

The odds of an order not making to me are pretty slim, but if you are concerned or just want to make sure, you can e-mail and ask at jason@camaroz28.com. Please make it easy for me to check and include ALL order information. Also note that it may take me some time to get back with you. Be patient, I will do my best to reply ASAP.

There is no way I can mention what serial number everyone will get. I would hate to count incorrectly and have someone disappointed. It will have to be a surprise! :)


Q: What methods of Payment do you take?

PayPal and Google Checkout. If you don't like PayPal and want to use a credit card, you can do so through Google Checkout.

Like the first two, I am basically a one-man show on this one. From the design to the shipping, I am pretty much handling all of this. I will try to be as precise as possible in doing this. Having said that, if there are any errors beyond my control (e-mail orders not making it to my inbox for one reason or another, technical glitches, etc.,) please understand that it is just that...beyond my control. I suppose my biggest concern is PayPal or Google not sending me an e-mail and someone not getting their order "in line" or something getting lost in the mail. In short, if something goes wrong, it is probably beyond my control and I will do whatever I can to make it right.

Production has definitely started, we have an approximate ship date and now we can nail down a pre-order date, etc.

I have updated the first post in this thread, but the guts of it is that everyone needs to be ready at 11:59pm the night of Saturday, September 6. That is when I will release the design along with pre-production images and open up pre-ordering! This design is so awesome it's really going to be hard to beat. I can't begin to imagine what series IV would be.

Too bad you can't do an aftermarket hood like a ZL1.

I got on at 9:50 my time and saw people posting they had ordered already :cry:. I then proceeded to have trouble logging in to the store. Got frustrated and just ordered as a guest. All this took 15 minutes:cry:. I missed a greenie by one (#101) on series II. Hope better luck this time.

color on the pre-pro photo is too dark, but will be changed to be more accurate.

The wheels are set a bit too inboard on the prototype, I have requested that they be moved out to be flush with the wheel well.

As mentioned in the item descriptions, the prototype color is darker than it should be and production versions should be more accurate. Feel free to wait until they come in to make sure you like them.

check your email for a conformation. it may have a link to email jason to change it. Mine did, and I had to do it. I forgot to change it on google checkout after I moved.

Yep, sure was. I wanted something other than the standard 5-spoke. The original Sunogo racer had a multi-spoke wheel (more than 5 anyway) and so did the Woodward remake.

This is just a quick low-quality mockup I put together using my home office printer and the prototype car to show what the packaging looks like. It is very hard to see the details, but you will soon when yours arrives in the mail. :cool:

Once again, just in case you missed it, the car paint colors are darker than they will be in the production version, and you can see that the print quality is very low. The production quality will of course be up to CamaroZ28.Com standards. I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

There are actually 4 layers to the inlay cards.

title card
the main card, top half
the main card, bottom half (which has a hole for the...)
trading card

All are separate pieces, and all are on different levels. There is some cool depth to it when it is all put together. This was really fun to design. :)

You guys are going to love these when they come in! I am getting a lot of requests for previous versions, and I just don't have any more and they are not easy to come by. If you think you might want this version, or one of the ones in the near future, get yours now and it will save you a lot of hassle later. :D

i really do like the die cast series, what about making a bigger version ? like 1:18 scale or 1:24 scale, i do collect a lot of the camaro die casts, but i like the bigger versions, would it be possible in the future to have a bigger scale or would that cost too much to make ?

I think Jason said that the company that makes these cars is just doing 1:64th scale. Thats it.

GreenLight has been an awesome company to deal with, plus their product quality is top-notch. Unfortunately, they have not mentioned plans for a 1:18 Camaro concept casting so I am hoping for the best on that. If they ever do, I will definitely look into it.

Q: After I order, when will I get mine?

We are expecting them to start shipping approximately 4-8 weeks after pre-ordering is opened up, which would put order fulfillment dates of around mid-late October. While this is the goal, it can always change due to unforseen circumstances.

Currently Jada had exclusive rights from GM on new Camaro castings. Kevin said he had to beg and plead just to be allowed to do the 1/64th Greenlight casting. Probabaly wouldn't let him compete in the larger scales.

Then how does Hot Wheels have new covertible castings for 2008 line of die cast? Or Hasbro for its Transformers line of 5thgens of different bots Bumbebee and cliffjumper. maybe exclusive rights for that size?

Not really much as far as updates, but things are still moving. Looking at closer to the 8 weeks portion of the 4-8 weeks range. Getting closer, though!

A bunch went out in the past few days. Yesterday was just a fine day for my printer to die...the one that I use for shipping. UGH. Fortunately, I was at the end where I needed to wrap it up before the post office closed anyway.

Then I had to go out and buy a new laser printer. As soon as I get back from SEMA, the shipping will resume!

The system does not generate order numbers in sequence. However, I take care of that by making sure that I fulfill each order in the sequence it came in to me.

Yeah, I remember I was hitting refresh like every 10 seconds for about 6.5 minutes lol...yeah, I thought I was quick too (as I got ordered right as the store reopened) and my first order went through at 12:07:45 (per the timestamp from the order number).

Nope, I don't mean yours. I had a few Canadian and European orders that I have to make special arrangements for. IE, I cannot just drop them off at the Post Office and walk away, I have to go in and fill out customs paperwork for them, etc.

No cars get pushed back in any case. I know how important the serial numbers are to everyone (including myself) due to the desire to have a low number and the Green Machine factor.

I process the orders specifically in the order they are in the system and I make sure that the serial numbers follow the exact same order. So when I encounter an order that requires special attention that might need to be set aside temporarily, I take the right amount of cars and set them aside and assign the customer name and order number to them so when they get shipped, they get the right ones no matter what. I run a very tight ship when it comes to that so everyone gets exactly what they should.

I noticed first off - the yellow seat inserts and the yellow wheels with black centers. It made the whole package come alive. This was well worth the wait, it looks great next to the last 2 series.
