?OnStar antenna mandatory?

The GM salesperson guide says OnStar is standard.
Does that mean the ugly black fin on the roof is mandatory?

I was hoping it would be optional, as I do not want OnStar and I do not want that thing on my car. I have heard others say the same.

Does anyone know whether it can be deleted?

Pretty sure the black antenna is for XM radio. I agree it should be invisible, preferably in a mirror like the Corvettes is.

Nope, that's for Onstar. Onstar is mandatory apparently.

Yes it will be standard. I am hoping that a aftermarket company can come out with a body colored cover that will still allow it to work and be colored the same as the car. I agree the Corvette method of having it stashed behind the rear view mirror would have been best.

It is onstar and xm combined in that fin. Also, a note for anyone with a car equipped with the fin: Do not use Armoral or wax on it to make it shiny. Our detail department did that to a car today, took another tech 2 hours to figure out why both xm and onstar worked intermitantly.

WTF is wrong with Onstar? How come I can't get roll-up windows.?

I'm really confused by your post. Are you saying that you want onstar but don't want power windows?

First thing i will do is unhook gay-star. If you are in an accident or going at high speeds via dragstrip, etc., your insurance can access and request information (speed of your car) through them for insurance claims and "general good driving check-ins." I spoke with my insurance agent today, even though i get a discount if the car is equipt with on-star.
