Seeing lots of G8's
Seeing lots of G8's
Two disclaimers:
1) I normally hate threads that start with "seeing lots of X." One person's perception of what he/she is seeing says very little about actual sales performance.
2) I've spent the summer in Chicagoland, where Pontiacs seem about as numerous as bacteria.
Having addressed those concerns, I must say I've seen G8's almost every day for the past few weeks, both GT's and V6's.
What are the latest sales numbers on the G8? I'm really hoping it does well.

Sold 1472 in July, 7742 year to date. The odd thing is, Pontiac reports a 164 day supply of them, with 9300 in inventory ... maybe that includes those on a boat? I know they're quite scarce up here, but then they've only been on sale for a month or so in Canada.
the local Pontiac place got a white G8 recently. My wife and I stopped by to check it out. They've got 2 V6s, but no V8 yet. They still won't let people test drive either car without being required to fill out a bunch of paperwork...
I've seen a total of 2 on the road.
I've driven through 2 Pontiac dealer's lots and they both had a grand total of 3 G8's each on the lots...
I understand this car isnt supposed to sell at the volume level that Grand Prix did, but when the same Pontiac dealers used to stock literally 25-40 or even more Grand Prixs, and now stock THREE G8's, I think there is a slight problem.
Are they still ramping up production? You'd think the supply line would be fully primed, and dealer lots should have a good selection by now.

Ive seen a few . Our dealers are barely even stocking them . For the 08 model year , 2 ( out of 5) of the most prominent Pontiac dealers in the area were only alotted 4 cars each for the entire year , the other dealers got less . I have yet to see more than 2 G8's on dealer lots at a time . Cant hardly sell whats not there . Good news though , they arent being marked up at all ....here anyways .
I've seen several. In fact, I sat in one for the first time while at the State Fair last week.
That car is SWEET.
May try to talk the wife into one, though the wagon would make that easier. OR, I could try to sell her on the G8 ST, and I could get rid of the Colorado.
(Too much $$ for my cheap ***, though. Colorado = paid for...)

I just completed a roadtrip through Atlantic Canada into Quebec, Ontario and back through the NE US and have seen a few in the wild both V6 and GT - all in the US, The few Pontiac dealers I encountered on the highways had at least one although a dealer in NB had three two V6, one GT. I haven't seen any locally, but I believe the dealers have a couple. They look very good in the flesh, not overly flashy, but modern.
Required paperwork just for a test-drive??!!
Not exactly the way to build enthusiasm and get the car out there - echoes of Camaros and Trans Am are "special and low-volume so no drive without cash on the hood" BS.
Like NO, those are are regular production cars; there's no limits to availability outside off what the dealers order.....; Z06, ZR-1 and CTS-V - those are low volume and special. G8, Camaro, not so much (yes, I know they are "special" but not quite in the same sense implied by dealers I've encountered)

In an interesting aside, the dealer was plum out of G5's, and said he will be for two weeks.
