What can be performed with these? I was given one for free from the husband of my wife's friend :think: who use to work for a dealership. I didn't receive a user's manual. I didn't even know I was getting it until the wife brought it home.

bobdec, great link you provided:). I was given just the tester and an adapter cable. No manual, power cable, and no diagnostic card.
I already have a scanmaster. Wonder if this will do me little aside from learning that I can receive, which is a plus.

Your 96 is obd2 so it is self powered through the obd plug. The only other adapter you will need is a CAN module if you want to scan newer cars. What year is it updated to? Is it a GM version or the teck tronix version. Take a picture and I'll let you know. I may have old GM training videos from when i was working for GM. It was a long time ago, so I'll check
