CamaroZ28.Com Summit 2008 - OFFICIAL THREAD!

Okay, here's the details that a lot of you have been waiting for...we are happy to announce the CamaroZ28.Com Summit 2008!

This meeting is NOT for "site members only". It is for site members as well as all Camaro enthusiasts. Feel free to invite and bring friends!

We did this last year and we all had a good time! Not only that, we but we are having it during the biggest "can't miss" Camaro/Firebird event of the year, Indy Bash 2008! For those new to this event, it used to be referred to as the "Bowling Green event" but it has temporarily moved to Detroit last year and now this year it will be in Indy and since this is such a huge killer event, we feel it would be the perfect time to take advantage of people being in town to organize another CamaroZ28.Com Summit!

So, show up in Indy, see lots of Camaros and Firebirds including the production 2010 Camaro and then Friday September 19, drop by the Holiday Inn North at the Pyramids (http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hotel/indno?_requestid=735926) (event host hotel) for a very casual CamaroZ28.Com Summit! We are reserving a meeting room at the hotel from 7pm on for all CamaroZ28.Com site members and Camaro enthusiasts to meet meet and hang out.

Ah crap. Something is always happening in my life around the time of these summits. Last time I had a business meeting in another city.

This time around my wife's due date will be the weekend before.

I am still debating where I want to stay at. The event hotel looks nice enough, but I can get in a Marriott Courtyard down the road for about $40 a night cheaper.

How many people are staying at the event hotel vs. elsewhere? If elsewhere which hotel?

Still planning on going. Had a small set back financially but think I still will be able to pull it off. Have had room booked for a few months now so It would be a damn shame if I can't make it. G** D**n economy and gas prices just killing car sales.

The "main" Indy Event itself runs from Setpember 19-21. (Info thread (http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=561301) - Official Event site (http://indycamaro.com/Indy08/showindex.htm)).

The CamaroZ28.Com Enthusiast Summit is the 19th...for folks to attend while they are at the "main" Indy Event.

...aaaand then on October 4 in Stanton is the Michigan GM Event (http://www.migmevent.com)...which is a Saturday night. :cool:

I have the time, but not the means. Enjoy it, all who do attend.

I'm still trying to figure something out, but it is not looking like I be able to spare the funds for a hotel room. Indy is a bit more than four hours away, which is more than I'm willing to drive twice in one day.

So, unfortunately, it looks like I won't make it this time either. :(


EDIT: So I just received a message from a very generous forum member (who shall remain nameless) who offered to pay for a hotel room for me and my wife. :cz28:

I called my wife with the good news and found out that she is now scheduled to work on Saturday and can't get out of it with this little notice, which pretty much rules out the trip. So, I'd like to issue a public and very grateful thanks for the offer, but I still won't be able to make it. :(

I just made reservations at the Holiday Inn. I'm driving in from St. Louis on Friday morning and my cousin and his wife are flying in from Syracuse on Friday night.

i got my hotel at hotwire.com and its only .2 mi from the host hotel on the same frontage access road next to the main highway..i even confirmed this on google maps with 3d pictures.

i paid $33/night for friday and saturdaty nights, $81.xx for both nights including tax at the Extended Stay America, all rooms are non smoking stuido type suites with king sized beds and kitchens

Me and Kris (g/f) are coming up Friday after work. Should be there about 6ish... Things are a little touch and go here right now. Big power outages so alot of the gas stations are wither out of power or out of gas. I have been driving the Civic to try to conserve but I need to fill the 'ROC on Thursday night. We live in a small town that seems to be uneffected but I am still a little concerned. Ohio sent all its Duke Energy crews to help in Texas then ...oh shi* we need them here! They are back today so hopefully it will be business as usual soon.

Anyway... I am registered for the show and for two nights at the Canturbury Hotel downtown. It was pricey ($130 per night) but it looks to be nice. See you all Friday night at the Summit. Sounds like it is going to be a good time and the weather looks great!

Does anyone know anything about 8094 and 65 North being closed due to flooding? This would be if you're coming from the Chicago-ish area. My boss told me she got massively delayed because of the closed off freeways this week on her way back from Indy
