I'll be working on pulling that trans from the blazer I bought and sold. I have to rebuild the tranny before the buyer will take it. But if I get done in time I will swing by, might even bring a barley pop or two;)

Too bad I could not stay longer, I was staying in Grand Haven for like 5 days.
I talked to Dert on the phone when I was at the Grand Rapids mall.

"I can run camera and be the tool bitch!"
Cant have too many of those:)
No problem Andy. I think that Steve & I both need the experience of pulling the motor out. I surely do. I'm sure there are tips that would make it easier, but I know if I can do the head and cam, then I should be able to pull the motor.
I like knowing how everything works, and I can't think of a better way then tearing right into it. See ya.

How are you pulling it Harold? Out the bottom or thru the top? Bottom was a fun time.

Out the top, should be easy with the tranny out anyway.

It took me about 10 hours from the time i pulled the car in our shop to the time the motor and tranny were on the ground. Its not as hard as everyone makes it out to be.

Derty is a great guy! He helped me out, did most of the leg work on my T/A cover, and helped with the A/C install on my car. Great guy all around.
I'm more of a computer guy, then a gear head. I love cars, and love it when mine goes fast, just not that good with install parts. I may stop by......maybe..... If you guys need another "Tool Bitch/Beer Boy/whatever". I also have a digi cam so I can take some pics.
I'll have to see what I'm doing tomorrow

We waited all day for you guys to show up, but you didn't, so we finished the job without ya. :)
A couple of Mustang guys showed up & lent a hand, tell them I said thanks Steve.
You're right Matt, it's not as big a deal as guys let on. It took us 8 hr's to get the motor out & on the ground, and a few more to tie up the tranny and get the parts together & car on the trailer. What did you find out with your motor when you got it apart Matt.?
I'll take the heads and such off & inspect things closer, but there was dried coolant under the manifold and it ran along the top of the head and down the side. So I def lifted the pasenger side head. I dont think it did any damage to the motor. It ran fine.
The new motor will be able to handle double the shot:D
Thanks Steve, for helping me out. Tell your dad I'l make sure he gets that tire back:)

I found that the valve was not stuck open, it was mushroomed and was pulled into the seat. The seat still looks really good but ill replace it anyway. I also found that i did alittle bit of damage to the head around the swirl hump (were the sparkplug goes in) its somewhat melted.
I also found a really bent pushrod but i dont know what cylinder it came from(i just pulled them all out without looking at them) I do know that it did not come from the drivers side which is the side i hurt. The cylinder walls still look and feel like they were just honed.
The bearings looked extremely well for the abuse i put that motor through not much wear showing. The tranny needs to be freshened up, the fluid looks and smells a little burnt.
Other than that everything else looks good.
Im lookin at sprayin alot more in the spring but this time ill have the fuel system to handle it and the motor will have a few forged goodies in it also. ;)
