I am gonna sell it for 5000 and I have friend who said he would buy it for 5,000 easily. Think I should do it? I would need to have another car lined up though. I rememebr some guy on here selling a black 89 Formula with an LT1 in it. Does anyone know if that car is still for sale?

i say go for it if you can get what you want and replace it with something you like better. :)

I think I saw the car you are talking about and it sounded sweet. I wanted it just for the DFI and stuff. Any way you could save your hood? That would be nice to transfer over!

IROC5.7TPI 12-27-2002, 04:02 PM Nice 3rd gens are hard to come by these days, and Erics is in top condition. I think that the 4th gens are a dime a dozen and Eric should stick with a 3rd gen, but thats all up to him..

I know what you mean Eric, it's tough letting go. I've had mine for over 9 years now.
I don't know if mine's as nice as Eric's, but it definitely has a lot of stuff on it, including the Ram Air hood (;) redroc) It's not perfect, but, what car is?

Really? I always thought it was the third gens that were twelve for ten cents. I can pick them up all day long under a grand. Problem is they still had too much steel and most of them rot out pretty quick. Not to mention the anemic 2.5, 3.8, and 305's most came with. Sure, there are the occasional formula 305s and 350s, but they are pretty few and far between anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I like 3rd gens still. I just have been spoiled by 4th gen technology :)

I don't mean to start any flame wars, but if you look closely at your 4'th gen, you'll see that mechanically it's very close to a 3'rd gen. The 4'th gen was not a new platform, it was an upgraded platform. The car is very similar to the '92's. Why do you think so much 4'th gen stuff fits on the 3'rd gen?
BTW, mine is a Formula 350.

it's alot easier to find a nice condition 4thgen than a nice thirdgen i'm sure everyone can agree to that. there just aren't enough thirdgens out there that were taken care of. mods are alot cheaper on 4thgens as well and that's the main point i guess. :)
Timberwolf 12-28-2002, 06:13 PM Heh, 3rd gen people have become pretty defensive. And I'm not talking about you guys in particular, I mean in general. I notice a lot of people that are into third gens, are ONLY into 3rd gens. Just an observation, not a stereotype :)

I own a 1st gen, just sold the 2nd of my 2 3rd gens a month or so ago, have had 2 2nd gens, and still have 2 out of my 3 4th gens in the driveway.
I'm a f body guy (or so the trend would indicate - let's not even talk about the other 30-40 vehicles I've owned in the last 15 years), not a "typical 4th genner" :)
Ok, granted, everyone has there favorites. I haven't had nearly as many f-bodies as you, but that is all I've had, minus daily drivers. I'm also giving it up to build a Fiero based kit car. Long live hot rodding....

it's a different breed in most cases though; it's usually the 4thgen owners who look down on anything that isn't 4thgen or a 69 ss.

kandied91z 12-29-2002, 03:24 AM eric, i've only seen the car in pictures so i can't speak for it. but, i do know of others who would die to purchase it if they had the spare cash. like i said before, the amount of goodies on her alone is well worth the price. but like anything; it's only worth what someone will pay for it. i think if you find it suits you, you should go for it. even though i'd rather you stick to the slower white one. :D

I am probably gonna wax it one more time and clean it up and take pictures. :( I am gonna go look at Bob's car sometime soon. I am very interested.
