is this intake any good?is it a copy of a brodix ?
it is for a bbc with rectangular ports and 4150 carb, made in china on back

it is taller than a weiand team g ,has extended runners ,untouched not ported

the friend who owns wants 50$ so I have it in my dirty big hands now,
he works on cars, a dude brought this bbc camaro in with this on a set of oval port heads, vacuum leaks

Professional Products seams to be "thanks"

I just wonder if their Any good on a 430cid bbc? I went to pp 's web sight seams to be for a bigger engine.

Ive got it I'm gonna try it, if it doesn't leak or just kill the power it'll be fine,

I can grind the maid in china off:yes: do you think I need to check it for lead?

LOL, on the lead :)

I would be careful when you first break in your engine. My builder tried one out on his circle track car and burned the #7 piston twice. Later found out it was the divider in the intake that was causing the problem. Took a grinder to it and ported the intake and everything worked out great after that.

That seems to be a common theme with overseas parts. Nothing wrong with them per se, it just takes a lot a labor to get them where they need to be. Either pay for a better finished product or buy cheap and finish it yourself. If someone has the resources not that big a deal, but most don't.

I gotta fess up guys! I have.....I have........I...have (voice trembling)....I have a Pressional Products intake for my 283!! It was a long time ago. I was young and I needed the money!! It was cheap and the guy behind the counter said the same thing "it's a remake but it works just as well as the American made one" so I got it! Why?!? Whyyyyyyyyy........................

I hate to burst all your bubbles. But the pos "chinese" intake has beat out edelbrock for me several times wrt dual planes. I got a couple for free to try and swapped them on the engine dyno. Came up 15hp ahead in the upper ranges and no loss down low. This repeated when I did it again a few weeks later.

Honestly I dont care if its made on the moon and shot to america with a catapult. If it fits well and makes more hp its ok in my book. The chinese are an interesting bunch of copy cats. At first all the stuff they make is junk because they dont spend the time to engineer it and make it properly. Then when they get a little feedback it just gets better from there until you cant really tell a difference from the good ol' american stuff.

I will openly admit that a moderate amount of thier stuff is junk, but the carbed intakes for sbc and bbc aint one of em imo.

Yeah thats fine do what works for you, and makes you sleep good at night.

Imo though, the only thing a car magazine for is good for is if I run out of stuff to wipe with. They are so full of nonsense 99% of the time that i'm suprised there is not a visible fog of stench around the magazine racks where they display them.

Let me ask you, is there a nice big full page add for dart somewhere in the mag? Perhaps a couple of the little sidebar adds that eat up 1/3 of a page?

I agree with you, but then again I have seen alot of chinese stuff fail.

I will see if I can find what mag it was.....If I remember it was a 513h.p. 383 sbc.

Whats to fail in a great big hunk of cast aluminum?

Obviously machine work can be off, and any manifold will do pretty well after its been through the hands of somebody with skill. The only difference is the time, and if the welder comes out or not.

Then again I have spent considerable time fixing alot of "high quality american made" parts and am somewhat sick of the shortfalls of most "high performance" parts.

The intakes work great, I used one on my 79 Z street car that ran 11.0's all day on pump gas, oval port 468.

They need to be port matched (atleast mine did) and it ran excellent. Bolt location was actually better than a equivalant Eddy intake and it cost me half as much brand new!

Some of the chinese **** is junk no doubt...but the Pro Products stuff isnt. The only reason im using a Team G is b/c I already had it laying around or I'd be using another one!

I have a team g but its for a 4500, if it was for a regular Holley Id run it. until I got this intake I was gonna try to get a different base plate?
my mind is slipping I don't even remember where I got the weiand , also have a torquerII and edelbrock C454 that's 4 intakes for 1 engine
am I confused or what?

Put it on the engine dyno, run em all across it and correct jetting and timing each time. Three on ebay and keep the good one help cut the cost of the dyno time. The right intake can get you as much as 60-70hp over one it doesnt like at all. You can have a couple of very good professionaly ported intakes on the bench and they're comparable to measure look at and whatever else. You put em on the pump and one will outrun the other pretty badly. Thats why we have a dyno and a track. Sometimes its the information that ain't on the flowsheet that makes all the difference.

If you have the room, why not flip an 4500 to 4150 adaptor upside down and try that? In most cases you'll use a spacer for that manifold anyways. I've done it before and it has worked just fine.

 got ya

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn22/slowride94z/001-2.jpg

this is the old intake with the spacer/adapter you were referring to , and the windshield to the right .I have more clearance than this the engine is on a hoist now.

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn22/slowride94z/002-2.jpg

the china is, 6 1/8th inches tall no spacer
the team g is, 4 3/4th inches tall no spacer
the c454 is, 6 5/8th inches tall with spacer

measured from the front valley rail to pad with straight edge

so if I use the china and 1/2 inch nos plate I'm good
