My first track run ever....

I pulled a .060 r/t and 12.87 at 106.9 with mods in sig and drag radials. I didn't launch it though. So Im thinking next time launch it and maybe I can do a little better. What do you all think? Oh and the three runs I made with the car were all within .080 on every ET. Very consistent. Im thrilled but wanna go faster.

What exactly do you mean by not launching it? No full throttle off the line? What's your 60ft. time?

60' was 1.807 By launching I mean reving it up and launching it off the line at 1500-2500rpm or something like that. I just left on the light and hammered it from idle.

You may find that's the best way to do it. I and many others go from off idle and flash the converter for the best 60ft. times. Some go no higher than 1200rpm or so, just experiment and you'll find what works best for you.

I dont understand what the purpose of having a high stall is when you arn't going to powerbrake it up on the line?

I 60 ft. better just punching it from idle. I tried launching against my converter and it would bog. It was suggested by someone at the track that I just hit it from idle and sure enough, it launched better.

Doing that will lower the rpm where the stall grabs.

Read up on "foot stall" vs. "flash stall." I think fuddle has a little writeup about it on their website.

The stall with go higher from idle to flooring it as opposed to torque braking it and releasing the brake basically.

That's very true but it still doesn't mean that his car will 60' better that way.
I have a Yank PT4000 and thru experimentation I've found that the higher that I brake stall it the quicker and harder it leaves. When I just punch it the car starts moving before the revs build therefore launching with less torque.
But that's my car with my combo and every combo is different. Many find that punching it from an idle works better for them.

Im not even an a4 guy but from driving lots of my friends cars and watching them on the track, I ve seen and realized every car is different. From the tires to the condiitions of the track, everything plays in.

I would tell you to try different things on the track. Play with it, it will also be a learning experience. A little trial and error may reveal much better times.

I have a 1995 Z28 with a 383 and a tci street fighter and I hold the brakes and bring the rpms up until it tries to push the car (2000-2200) and I'm getting 1.65-68' on 275-40-17 nitto's. But eveybody has their own way. LE wanted me to try leaving off an idle and flash the converter for a better 60' ( He also recomended a better converter).
