I ran this kit "zex dry 125 shot" all year last year without pulling timing. But this year I have a pcmforless premium gas tune. I was planning on pulling some timing with my mallory 685 box it turns out it might be dead, So I was wondering if I can run this shot without pulling timing if I add some race fuel? Think my engine will survive?

Bryan @ pcmforless said to just run some 100 octane and I should be good.:)

I always thought that because of the cool charge of the nitrous that it actually lowers knock and that pulling timing wasn't that important, at least in smaller shots.

n2o isnt cool. it raises cylinder temps and pressure a lot. idk why people think it gives a cooling effect like on the fast furious.
It creates cylinder temps so hot that you have to step down the plugs a few heat ranges for n2o use in any motor.
If you run 100 octane you shouldnt have any issues, but there is still a chance. Pulling some timing is just more insurance.
If you read in this section enough you will find people do some pretty risky things with n2o. Some guys run a basic kit and have no safety mods, no accessories, no nothing. No pulled timing, no high octance gas, stock plugs.
And then there are some who take every precaution. You just have to think where you want to be in this mix of people.

Its just a zex 125 dry shot I have a good pump so I'm gona go for it. If I blow it up looks like its time to rebuild

you will probably need injectors, 24lbs are only good till 430 flywheel hp.
Do your self a favor and get a window switch, they are cheap.

I have 24# svo injectors they will alow a little more horsepower since they are rated at a lower psi. I dont really need a window switch, I have my arming switch mouted on the council I just turn it off and on for shifts. Not sure if its safe to spray through the shifts on my CPT race tranny?

You will be fine as long as the engine temp stays under 210 degrees and you are running good 93 pumpgas. I ran NX 150HP with full timing on straight pumpgas, 10.30's@130mph, plenty of times but I checked the plugs for detonation and wouldn't suggest you go over 125HP w/o higher octane fuel or timing retard. You should be fine spraying thru the shifts with that new tranny b/c Cahall knows his stuff. Later

The 100 octane will probably do it for ya, but...
Stock pistons SUCK!!!
Here's mine, 100shot+no timing pull+stock pistons = ....

Though I did run this for about two years, and dozens of bottles before this happened. I had the same philosophy as you: If it breaks, time for a rebuild! So, it broke (obviously) and now there's a shiny new 383 between the fenders:)

Looks like you went lean?
Might have been, the bottle pressure was at the top of the limits, but still no higher than I had ever run before. I've since upgraded the fuel system, and I have a timing retard for it as well. With all the carnage, it was hard to tell if it melted, then broke pieces, or if pieces broke and then melted. It happened around mid-point during a full 1/4 mile run. The top rings were both broken in multiple places, I wondered if the top ring may have expanded enough to butt the ends together.
