AnoThEr Ring Gap Thread~!

ok. I need some help deciding on what ring gaps to run.

I called Perfect Circle and they recomened about .018" for the top, .021" for the bottom.. That is also what Federal Mogul recomended.

but I see everyone running .025" or so.. I want to run a little nitrous (no more than 150) here is my motor. and advise would be great. Thanks

I dunno, hyper pistons don't expand as much. But that does seem on the tight side. You mentioned the nitrous when you spoke with FM?

That would be too tight for me to be comfortable with if i were to run nitrous. That sounds closer to a NA setup. You might want to run them larger. Like in the .022/.024 range ore even slightly bigger. Thats closer to a mild nitrous setup. I know my JE's stated specific gaps with mild to race boost and nitrous setups. The sheet came with my pistons.

I ended up going with about .025 on top, and .028/.029 on the second ring.. I would rather get a little blow buy on cold starts for a while and lose a tiny bit of compresson that have to rebuild the thing again.. I think my numbers are prety good. I cant understand that chart from perfect circle.. everything is so so tiny on there..(just reslised that the chart was posted in a diffrent thred.. but it was like .0075)
