PWR-TRIP 07-05-2008, 03:20 PM 95 Z28 LT1 M6 with pacesetter long headers, comp cam 304 and K&N CAI.
I went with my C6 chrome (18-19's) no pcm tune. I did 14.8 @89MPH.
What am i doing wrong? I want to hit 12's...Please give me advice.
Thanks.

wow that's really slow, you spinning alot off the line? Is your car running right? Your car should run that or better stock, something's wrong...I have a 98 rustang gt with a catback that runs mid 14's all day on ****ty street tires..
ws6transam 07-05-2008, 10:45 PM Check your tuneup, of course. Make sure timing is correct and it's hitting on all eight cylinders. Check fuel pressure, replace all filters, get the injectors cleaned. Put in a new oxygen sensor, spark plugs, plug wires, etcetera. Then consider getting a torque converter that matches the cam. 2200 to 2400 rpm stall speed, look at the Neal converters. Put in some 3.73 gears in the back. Then see what your ET is like. Your LT1 should run at least 15 MPH faster than what you've listed there. 89 MPH is indicative of an engine that is making about 200 HP, so you are down at least 75 HP from stock.
96m6lt1 07-06-2008, 02:34 PM OP has an m6 car..
6 spd cars can be trickey getting them to launch, you gotta slip the clutch!
as for the very low mph,did you get off the throttle too soon? 900' stock you should be 96-100mph in the 1/4......
without being at the track or seeing a video it is pretty hard to judge the real problem or pin pointing it.
practice launching the car with a little clutch slip and roll into the throttle..

PWR-TRIP 07-07-2008, 03:09 AM I was launching at 2500RPM with street tires. I'm gonna go on Friday again and put on my salad shooters.
AL SS590 M6 07-07-2008, 07:52 AM My first question is what's the elevation of the track and what were the weather conditions? Then what were simularly powered cars running that same day?
PWR-TRIP 07-07-2008, 01:11 PM It had rain quiet abit, but very windy conditions. The fastest car there was prolly a black C6 supercharged doing 11's.
Stock 2002 Z06 was doing 13's. Race city actually sits at 3350 feet however the track is officially listed at ... =2888.469 feet above sea level. Does that make sense?

Yeah with that altitude and crappy weather your times and mph make much more sense.
If you're going to race at a high altitude track then go on a cool/dry day and your times will be better.
ws6transam 07-08-2008, 09:19 AM I'd forgotten about asking about race conditions. 3300 feet is considerable. Is there a way to correct for conditions in order to compare E/T and MPH to sea-level track conditions?

Al, you got your formy into the tens?? Congratulations, man!

Does that make sense?I would assume your in Calgary correct?I run @S.I.R in Saskatoon and the elevation is 1600 ft.above sea level and i remember that my times corrected dropped by 2.8 tenths(eg 13.82 would be approx.13.55@Mission Raceway)so your elevation would very possible for the slow times ,esp.for your mods.Btw ,have you ever had any dealings w/Top Gun Coatings?I had my headers done there and so far so good.
93Phoenix 07-21-2008, 02:33 AM Wow 89 MPH trap for cammed LT1? Something's wrong man.
pyro719 07-21-2008, 09:24 AM My bolt on 273 auto ran 14.9 with a 2.4 60ft with da of 8400.
bubba4 07-21-2008, 07:39 PM Check to see the knock sensor is retarding timing with a code scanner or data log. The knock sensor will not throw a code but can pull up to 10 degrees of timing out of your total timing killing performance and the only way you will see it is to data log. There is a way to eliminate the knock sensor to test it. Install a 1/4 watt 4k ohm resistor (Radio Shack) to one end of the knock sensor plug and the other to ground and run the car. Remember this will bypass your knock sensor so be careful.
