Good evening, Camaro Comrades and Firebird Friends!
Every one of us has been touched one way or another by an awful killer -- that killer known as 'Cancer.'
Here's an opportunity to help fight back -- and enjoy a day with fellow Camaro/Firebird/Corvette Enthusiasts to boot! All proceeds go to the Great Lakes Region of the American Cancer Society....a very worthy cause.
Details are below -- along with a note from our good friend, Colleen Egan that tells a little bit more about the Cattle Baron's Ball and the Ride for Hope event.
By the way -- you just NEVER know what special cars may show up at this event.........................
Event Description
The event in August is the first annual Ride for Hope, which is one of the lead up events to the actual Cattle Baron's Ball in Sept, the largest annual fundraiser for the Great Lakes Region of the American Cancer Society. The Cattle Baron's Ball is a $250/person evening at the MI State Fairgrounds bldg that includes a large silent auction, a live auction, a food/wine tasting from major resturants, coffee bars and more plus major name entertainment like Reba McIntyre. The Who's Who of the auto industry is there each year and it ranks as one of the top three must-attend fund-raising events in Metro Detroit.
The Cattle Baron's Ball (CBB) was founded here in Detroit by Gary Cowger, Global VP GM. The CBB raises about $1 mil every year. The CBB is presented by major companies in Detroit each year. It will be presented by GM this year and the Honorary Chair is Ray Young, GM VP CFO. Over $5mil has been raised to date via the CBB event.
The Ride for Hope will be more of an outdoor local event for folks to enjoy a full day of fun at Camp Dearborn in Milford for only $25/car or motorcycle and still participate in raising much needed funds for the American Cancer Society. Our hope is to grow the Ride for Hope to someday have 750 motorcycles and 750 classic cars join us in the fight against the nation's #1 health concern - cancer.
The Ride for Hope is Aug 24th and the Cattle Baron's Ball is Sept 13th. Funds raised at the lead up events will be totaled together with the CBB and used to support the American Cancer Society and it's grant organizations throughout the Great Lakes Region.
