Opinions on D.C. Area

Well, this is mainly a post for those who live/have lived in the Washington DC area. Basically, I'm graduating next August and have been interning with the Secret Service for the past 6 months. I plan on applying for a position with Secret Service Uniformed Division and if I知 offered a job, I値l take it. What I知 trying to look into are realistic living costs in the Alexandria, Va. - D.C. and Maryland area's. I'm probably looking at a starting salary of around 40,000/yr +/- a few thousand depending on how froggy they are about my degree. Yeah, it ain't much, but hopefully its better than the 26,000 I壇 be making here.

I'm planning on making a trip up there soon so any kind of advice some of you Yankee痴 have is well appreciated . My sister and her husband live in Alexandria and have offered their home to me while i get my feet on the ground, but I知 not sure if i want to make that kind of imposition.

What can i expect as far as car insurance costs, etc? If anything goes, it痴 the bastard Intrepid. I REFUSE to let the bird go. I've worked hard to keep and maintain that sucker and as far as I知 concerned, Mopar is the devil .

OK, ramble off, I知 just going to sit back and read.
