Bumper misfit

Got my car back yesterday after my rear bumper was hit.

The rear bumper paint looks spanking new. But theres now a 1 cm gap on either side (between the fender and the rear bumper), that is, the rear bumper is not a perfect fit on the body. :(
Spoke to the shop guy and it seems nothing can be done about it. If bumper is raised or brought forward, then the gap will be gone, but it will protrude outwards from the front edge near the wheel. Which means once again a misfit.

Morale of the story: The car might never be the same after a repair job (even if the accident is no fault of yours).

Was the bumper replaced? If so, was the part from GM or an aftermarket piece? If the insurance paid for it, make that shop fix it, or get it looked at by the insurance company and tell them you want to take it to someone else to have it fixed. Don't let that shop get away with that crap.

I have the same thing on my car, it bugs me but I've never really looked into fixing it.

Same bumper cos there were only scratches. Calling the insurance would be a hassle.

Well it's up to you. If you can live with your bumper looking like that, then more power to you. But personally I'd want my car looking the way it should, and the hassle would be worth it.
