guionM 06-23-2008, 11:29 PM So much for Chery building it.
The Dodge Hornet will be Japaneese, not Chineese.
It means it will be eligable to be sold in Japan without tarriffs.

Caps94ZODG 06-24-2008, 06:59 AM I called it what do I win :D

So since I am within one dollar of both showcases do I win both?
Eric77TA 06-24-2008, 09:54 AM This is very good news for Chrysler. I think that the Hornet is an attractive car for the segment and being built by Nissan I think it will be a much more competitive entry in the small car segment than a Chery based version would have been. Had the Chery been less than stellar (which I find likely as a first entry for this market) it could have had negative repercussions for a long time to come. Those buyers might not have ever considered a Dodge product again.

I agree, this is a good move on their part. I think the Hornet/Versa Ram/Titan deals will work out good for both Dodge and Nissan.
Z284ever 06-24-2008, 10:15 AM This should be interesting. For one, I loved the Hornet concept and also because I see closer Chrysler/Nissan/Renault ties coming.
LexLT1-Z28 06-24-2008, 10:26 AM Good news, I'd consider a Nissan platform for a DD as usually if it's an American Brand the insurance is cheaper and the reliabilty would be great compared to something from China. Not impressed with any vehicles, dirt bikes, 4 wheeler's etc from China.

As in Carlos Ghosen's dream come true? I dont see it as some sort of close relationship. I see Chrysler as a Nissan owned nameplate with everything eventually across the board as being a nissan derived platform.

Seems when Nissan and Chrysler came up with this Rams for Versas trade, Chery was dropped like a hot potato. Chrysler is still supposed to sell a Chery model or 2, but the Hornet would have been the volume maker.
2 beers next meeting. :)

I see that as well. Chrysler is going to need outside resources if it's going to compete and continue. GM started the trend, Ford is about to usurp what GM has done in integreting global resources. Chrysler is going to need engineering resources from outside the US as well.
BTW, Nissan has 1 and soon 2 RWD platforms. Anyone want to take bets that the next decade replacements of the 300 &/or Charger will toss the Mercedes Benz based LX/LY in favor of Nissan based RWD platforms?
Reason I bring this us is Chrysler is looking at RWD for the next Avenger.
