Air quite after battery went dead?

I just recently pulled my 95 Z28 out of storage and my air conditioning seems to not be working at all. I started up the car 2 months ago and ran the car for a 1/2 hour and during this time I cycled the heat and a/c and all was well. I tried starting it up today and the battery would not turn the car over and I drained the battery. I charged up the battery and started the car and now the compressor will not kick on. Could it be possible that I need to reset the PCM or could it be low freon that would keep the compressor from kicking on? I checked all the a/c fuses and they are fine. I want to check out all the simple fixes first before taking it to a service station. Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

The most common cause for the compresser not engaging is a low charge. There are pressure switches in the system that keep the compressor from running when the pressure is too low. That's because the refridgerant carries the oil through the system and the compressor will be destroyed without oil.

There are some cheap single gauge charge kits out there anywhere you can by R134a. They fit the low side fitting(smaller) and allow you to read the pressure and charge. I think the low pressure cutout switch stops the compresser at around 5psi.

A fully charged system during the summer static pressure will be more than 50 psi. Running it will be between 20-35psi, depending on how everything is working.

Most likely it is low on charge.
