Honda FCX Clarity enters productionGripenfelter 06-20-2008, 08:43 PM http://wot.motortrend.com/6258204/green/honda-fcx-clarity-fuel-cell-sedan-goes-into-production/index.html cjmatt 06-22-2008, 10:24 AM "production" as in 200 units total...GM probably has built more prototype 5th gens to date than that... how do the asians get such good press all the time. here in Detroit, if you goto the airport, there are vans that take you from the parking decks to the terminal. they are all supercharged v10 ford econolines that run off of hydrogen, but this gets no press time SNEAKY NEIL 06-22-2008, 07:37 PM Doesn't GM have a Fuel Cell vehicle "in production" as well? I think they gave them to select people in select markets. I have heard people talk about this as if Honda was first, but I think GM has had thiers out for close to a year now. Is that right? jg95z28 06-23-2008, 12:15 PM http://www.chevrolet.com/fuelcell/ indieaz 06-23-2008, 12:22 PM The Equinox Fuel Cell will go nearly 150 miles per fill-up,(2) What constitutes a "fill-up"? How much electricity is required? Threxx 06-23-2008, 12:37 PM What constitutes a "fill-up"? How much electricity is required? It's a fuel cell so it's hydrogen... unless it's like the volt and also has a battery pack that's charged via wall outlet? indieaz 06-23-2008, 01:02 PM It's a fuel cell so it's hydrogen... So it takes liquid hydrogen? I thought it was a permanently sealed pack that required electricity. Ahh I see, the hydrogen is the reactant in the fuel cell that generates electricity. I'm retarded  So, how much hydrogen constitutes a fill up? Z28Wilson 06-23-2008, 01:20 PM What I find hilarious is that hydrogen fuel cell cars produce pure water vapor as its only exhaust product.....but the greenies believe water vapor is a greenhouse gas. Can't win for losing can you? Threxx 06-23-2008, 01:40 PM What I find hilarious is that hydrogen fuel cell cars produce pure water vapor as its only exhaust product.....but the greenies believe water vapor is a greenhouse gas. Can't win for losing can you? Seriously? I'd slap someone if I heard them say that. Where have you seen them saying that? jg95z28 06-23-2008, 01:41 PM So it takes liquid hydrogen? I thought it was a permanently sealed pack that required electricity. Ahh I see, the hydrogen is the reactant in the fuel cell that generates electricity. I'm retarded  So, how much hydrogen constitutes a fill up?Think of it as an electric car that uses hydrogen to generate the electricity to run the electric motor. This old article on the Equinox says it holds 9-lbs of hydrogen good for 200 miles. For the production version, GM claims a range of 150 miles, so either the efficiency went down, or the storage capacity. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_lists/car_shopping/green_machines/2008_chevrolet_equinox_fuel_cell_car_news indieaz 06-23-2008, 02:37 PM What I find hilarious is that hydrogen fuel cell cars produce pure water vapor as its only exhaust product.....but the greenies believe water vapor is a greenhouse gas. Can't win for losing can you? Water vapor *is* a greenhouse gas... This is why night time temperatures are so much warmer when humidity levels are high. The water vapor prevents radiational cooling. super83Z 06-23-2008, 05:56 PM well they may be producing it but according to MSN "normal" people can forget about getting one. http://editorial.autos.msn.com/article.aspx?cp-documentid=524792&icid=RSS_1 JakeRobb 06-23-2008, 06:05 PM Seriously? I'd slap someone if I heard them say that. Where have you seen them saying that? Yep. Water vapor holds in much more heat than carbon dioxide, and by extension makes a much larger contribution to global warming (oh wait, I think they're calling it "climate change" now). As I recall, the amount of water vapor in the air dwarfs the amount of CO2 by a large margin. The so-called "greenies" just picked on CO2 because it was a primary output of industry, and therefore something they could go after. | ||
