Has anyone ever tried this line of spray paints from Duplicolor? It's supposed to give whatever you're painting an anodized look. I was thinking about painting my stock rims to give them the appearance of the blue anodized rims from the '99 TA.

I have never used the product, however, you could go to Home Depot/Lowes, buy one of those cheap, chrome covered plastic toilet flush levers, and spray that as a test subject.

I've never seen that stuff, but I think it's a really cool idea if it actually works like advertised!

I had never heard of it before either...I was thinking about painting the rims bronze and duplicolor has a bronze wheel paint but I think I like the blue anodized idea better.

I used it on my aluminum door sill plates that I got from MBA before they went out of business. I like it. It does a decent job. I wouldn't saty it looks exactly like anodized but, very close. I think there is a picture of my sills in my Z pics.

I have used it, the purple color. I used it to paint my drums and calipers. I didn't prep them like I should so they did not turn out as smooth as I wanted. It looks good though. Just prep it right, uses the ground coat and make sure you use clear coat on it. I have to re-do mine this year and I will do it right this time. I even used the ground coat to paint some of my interior plastics because of the metal flake it has in it. Good stuff. Recommend it. But, practice on scrap stuff first. Got to get the correct amount of ground coat and color coat on to produce the effect you want. Takes some time.

Here is a stock steel accessory bracket idler pulley that I polished:

And here's that same pulley with two coats of Metalcast Red over it:

That looks great!! If I got my stock pulleys to polish up to a mirror finish like that, I would not want to paint them!! AWESOME!!

wow Rob, that looks killer (polished and painted)!!

mybabythebird - do you have any pics of your painted calipers? My rims are not polished...just wonder how this would turn out if you had to use the duplicolor ground coat before the metalcast?

POR-15 has a anodize kit. you can get a sample kit for around 50 bucks that includes most common ordered colors...or you can buy a gallon of whatever color you want.

you do have to shock it and dip it though...and yes, it is a REAL anodize, not some cheap cover-up or paint
