Brangeta 06-17-2008, 01:06 AM Man I love these Callaways... These pics were taken at Fbody Gathering 7 in 2003 and man, is this car gorgeous. If you have any more pics of it, please post them, or email them to me.
http://www.cccfonline.net/New_Folder/G7/G7063.jpg
It used to be owned by a member of this message board, but he'd never post pics of it, and rarely talked about it. Rather than show it off, he would only ask questions about this and that.
http://www.cccfonline.net/New_Folder/G7/G7062.jpg
The car was wrecked (and totaled by insurance since the bodykit exceeded the value of the car--you better get your car appraised and insured for a higher than stock value if you mod your car this much) about two years ago.
http://www.cccfonline.net/New_Folder/G7/G7061.jpg
It's now in the process of being rebuilt by a friend of mine, and he's painting it green.
http://www.cccfonline.net/New_Folder/G7/G7059.jpg
It will also have a Callaway SuperNatural 400, 383 cubic inch, 404 horsepower engine in it as well. In its state during these pics, it had a supercharged LT1.
I really like these pics. I know many of you dislike the way the Callaways look, but these pics are really beautiful.
Can someone tell me who makes those exhaust tips? I can't identify them. I thought they were GMMG style, but they aren't round enough.
RKPsk8er 06-17-2008, 01:10 AM not too found of the look of it but they are nice pics and thats a very rare car.
shock6906 06-17-2008, 07:25 AM Tell your friend to can those lights and get the 93-96 tails.
Z-RATED94 06-17-2008, 10:04 AM Nice pics. Iv'e always liked the rear bumper on the Callaways.
bombebomb 06-17-2008, 10:17 AM That is fugly, id almsot consider what is done to that car to be "ricey" (ricey meaning ugly mods) I don't even think the photos are nice tbh.
EnFuegoZ28 06-17-2008, 10:24 AM Nice pics. Iv'e always liked the rear bumper on the Callaways.
I wouldn't mind having that bumper on the Z. Kind of smooth the lines on the rear. I do not like the front end though.
But it is a nice car. Just lose the tail lights.
Brangeta 06-17-2008, 12:49 PM I'm pretty sure my friend went back with stock tail lights. I know at least one of those ricey lights were damaged in the previous owner's crash. Those lights are weird, because each lamp has two bulges on it. You can see that really well in the third pic.
The pics don't look very good the way the forum resized them, but if you have firefox, right click>view image to see them at the original size. It's a really cool looking car.
Somebody obviously went through a lot of trouble to make that stripe kit. Stripes weren't exactly a standard option for C8s, and that stripe kit fits better than ANY of the cheap aftermarket ones I've seen.
I still want to know if ANYBODY can identify those exhaust tips though.
skorpion317 06-17-2008, 02:46 PM I've never seen a good-looking C8. The nose just looks ridiculous. It's even worse on the '98-up cars.

MARKTHOMASBRAND 06-17-2008, 03:04 PM The red one looks nice :).
The black one looks like a dodgy kit car.
Brangeta 06-17-2008, 03:04 PM I've never seen a good-looking C8.
Never? To me, this one looks more badass than any Camaro I've ever seen. It's mostly the angle, but still... :D

Brangeta 06-17-2008, 03:07 PM I also like this one. The owner of this car is still a member here, but doesn't post.

detltu 06-17-2008, 03:46 PM I don't really like the styling of these cars particularly. But I think they are really cool just because of the rarity. Some good pics. I particularly don't see many pics of the 98-02 style.
RKPsk8er 06-17-2008, 04:09 PM I like everything about the callaways but the nose. to me it looks goofy extending out that far.

Nope. Just looks like an LT1 Camaro with a goofy nose.

Only two Commemorative C8s were made. One is a 2002 and is silver and started life as a Z28, the other is a '98 and Cayenne Red Metallic and started life as an SS. Callaway originally planned to make 10 of them, but obviously they weren't popular.
The bright red one above was actually a '96 SS originally, and Callaway does not consider it one of the Commemorative C8s because it still has a SuperNatural LT1 (as far as I know) instead of an LS1/LS6 based engine. I guess I could/should ask the owner...
I love researching these C8s. Chances are, if you google Callaway C8, it'll pull up something I found or said .
I'm still looking for more pics people have personally taken though. And I still wanna know what exhaust tips the black and champagne striped C8 has. Anybody have ANY idea? :(
Brangeta 06-17-2008, 04:54 PM Nope. Just looks like an LT1 Camaro with a goofy nose.
That's fine. It's your opinion, and a good one that is pretty much true.
Just don't bash me too hard when I buy one someday and come here to show off what I'm so proud to finally own. :D
It may not be as attractive as an LT1 Camaro nose, but as far as I'm concerned, only one car from 1993 to 1997 is better looking than an LT1 Camaro, and that's the Viper GTS. The Callaway C8 is 3rd on my list as far as front ends go.
1. Viper GTS
2. Camaro
3. Callaway C8
So what I'm saying is, while it may not be as beautiful as a regular Camaro nose, it's pretty nice anyway.

Thats cool man. I read an article about them making a commemorative edition for 2002 but I didn't realize they only made two. I'm disappointed they didn't make one in black as that is my favorite color for the callaways. I have that article somewhere although I'm sure you already have it. I'm going to make note of your screen name for future reference on the C8s.

That's cool dude, yeah, keep track of me. If you have any questions or requests, send me a PM. Until I get my article ready to post on my 4th Generation Camaro History site, I'm not going to blab too much about C8s publicly on here, or there will be no reason for anybody to read the final article.
The issue you're talking about is probably Autoweek. There was also a short article in a magazine called Machine Design if I remember correctly. The Autoweek one was the longest about the Commemorative C8s.

Yeah that is the one. I had actually forgotten which magazine it was in but that is it.
Z28SORR 06-18-2008, 12:00 PM I also have never liked the looks of ANY of the Callaway designs. Never understood the point of putting holes behind the rear wheels.
so no competition from me. Y'all can have them. I've been to their place in Con., really nice folks.
n2omike 06-18-2008, 02:41 PM I was at G7 and have some pics of it somewhere not on this comp.
I will look for them. I think the was also a Tojan there that year as well.

A lot of air gets trapped under the car right there, and those vents let it escape. That's the theory behind it. I wasn't at the wind tunnel testing. :)
Not crazy about the Callaway cars at all. Just seems to throw the proportion of the car off.

97 vettes look rather sexy:fact
MTL_Z28 06-20-2008, 01:36 AM I remember reading about this car when I was a kid in 1995. The C8 exterior was designed by Paul Deutschman, a montrealer, who also designed the C16 vette.
I remember thinking how cool this car was back then and thinking to myself if I ever bought a 93-97 camaro I would transform it into a Callaway... I can think of alot of things now that I would rather do with the 35k$ in parts alone that it would cost
It's a cool car nonetheless, and if I was stupid rich I would probably do it.
texas94z 06-20-2008, 01:50 AM looks like camaro plastic surgery gone horribly bad.

I know why they're there. I was being satirical! I think their design is ugly. And I'm not sure they're even functional?
The Jaguar nose has been done to many times, over to many years, on to many cars. It's emblematic of a lazy designer. Also don't think the nose is proportional to the rest of the car, to long.
Design/style is a very personal thing, and not many people will agree no what looks good.
Brangeta 06-20-2008, 12:50 PM Design/style is a very personal thing, and not many people will agree no what looks good.
Definitely true. I like the C8. But there are a lot of cars I don't like the looks of that are really popular. I think every Mustang ever made (up until 2005 and excluding the old Shelby Mustangs) look ridiculous. I guess the '00-'04 Saleen Mustangs looked fairly good as well. The rest... eh... don't like any of them. It's all a matter of opinion, which I'm cool with.
I love 4th generation Camaros, so I want to own one of the first 4th gen supercars. In these days of better engines, starting with the LS1, the C8 doesn't seem like much of a supercar horsepower-wise, but it still is by all accounts. Callaway started with a 275 hp '93 LT1 and made it into a 404 hp emissions compliant, easy to drive monster. (The first Callaway SuperNatural Camaro was a '93 Pace Car replica--it didn't receive the bodykit... and I am dying for pictures of this car). You could even get further work done to it to create a 450 hp emissions compliant 383. They modified the looks of the car in order to get a lower coefficient of drag, and they succeeded. They offered luxury leather interiors to replace the standard leather or cloth in the Z28 they started with (not many of the cars have this interior). Etc.
A GMMG ZL1 or Dick Harrell would be cool, but I like how sleek the C8 looks. Plus, I have a sentimental attachment to the LT1.
There are two other reasons... I can get a C8 much cheaper than a ZL1 or Dick Harrell (can't afford either of those, even a Phase 1), and I like the '93-'96 dash layout better.
KyleW93z 06-24-2008, 03:34 AM I didn't like the C8s for a loooonnnng time, but after looking at those pics, id drive one in a heartbeat.
Zepher 06-24-2008, 04:20 AM I could have sworn that they came with these wheels that I used to have on my cars.

I'm pretty sure Callaway did a better job.
Zepher-- The black and champagne striped one just has some random aftermarket wheels on it. The black one I like most has chrome OZ Monte Carlos. The Orange one has Fikse FM5 aftermarket wheels. And the two (I'm not looking at the pics right now, but...) have some other form of OZ wheels as well.
I'm going to ask for a 4th time lol, does anyone recognize the exhaust tips on the black and champagne striped one?

They kinda look like stock Z-28 tips to me.

That is a little scary.
Brangeta 06-24-2008, 03:43 PM I don't feel like researching Chrysler products right now (or ever... really). But the C8 was designed in 1994, which I assume was before these ugly Chrysler M's, Concordes, or whatever these cars are. They probably copied Callaway. :o
shock6906-- Nope, definitely not. They are too small.
Wicked1 06-25-2008, 01:35 PM ive always thought that the concords looded alot like the 98+ camaro...even more so with a callaway bumper:lol:
