Can't get u-joints off driveshaft, Any suggestions?

I've been trying for 3 days to get my u-joints off my driveshaft and they won't budge the slightest, I've tried using PB-Blaster and tried beating it off with a hammer, etc, and I started to try exactly how the book said but I can't seem to find a piece of c-channel thats the size the book says.. soo, I don't know what to do.

P.S. If anyone has a Driveshaft for a '86 Camaro w/ a 2.8L v6 mpfi, let me know :)
(Also, please, if you do have one, make sure u-joints come off without a torch :p)

Spray the u-joint caps down with WD-40.....take a BIG socket (big enough that the endcap will fit into it) and set it on the ground.....have somebody hold the driveshaft so that the bottom cap is right over the socket, and proceed to pound the s*** out of the top one with a hammer (don't hit the shaft or yoke).....the bottom cap should slide right out into the socket....pull the loose cap off, flip the driveshaft over and do the same to the other side.

If it won't come out take it to a machine shop and have them press it out...should cost less than $10 and it's better that destroying your driveshaft.

Did you remove the plastic pins first?

You don't need a big torch, just like a coleman or a minipropane torch. Just heat up around the pins alittle bit and the plastic starts to ooze out the sides. Then take a smaller socket and press out the U-Joint..

That's all I can think of that may be holding you up...

Yes there are plastic pins in there, unless your U-Joints have already been replaced..

Yes, I believe that is the problem.. I just called a place and they are going to charge me $10 to pull the u-joints out, they do work on drive shafts and they seemed to have known about the plastic too, so, maybe I'll get a torch later if I ever need to do something like this again, but I've never had this problem before.. but for now im going to take it to someone else, rather than mess something up first time around heh..

here's a tip for you guys. dont bother with the propane torch. use a MAPP gas torch instead. its about the same price for the gas although the ignitor/handle is a little more. it gets ALOT hoter and will work much faster. you can get this from either a auto parts store that sells tools or some of the hardware stores. I never use the propane torch anymore since I got my MAPP gas torch.
all gm driveshafts use this from the factory.

hmm, I think I may buy one of those next week, might come in handy :)
