Making the LT1 Maro look Exotic

After seeing numerous nice-looking non-ricey imports the last few days, I have to say I have feelings of inadequicy about my own car. There are just so many different things you can do to these foreign cars to modify their appearance. Sure, they're slow to start with.

What do we get? We get gross, tacked-on looking bodykits. The only cool one I've seen so far was the Wings West kit I think--the one with the solid front clip. We get a duckbill spoiler that looks plastered on or the RKSport style one which just looks odd from the rear. Our selection of hoods is decent.

Just had to rant. I'll have to find some way to make my car look more exotic. Custom orders perhaps? I have to get rid of that bumper overhang in the rear--that's just gross. From most angles, though, the LT1 Camaro looks badass. It's just when I see it parked next to a really clean import with 10k appearance mods, no matter how slow that import is, I still feel outdone.

Are there any parts out there to make the camaro look more "exotic"? I know, it's kind of a loose description. Money is not a problem. Could you custom fabricate body panels to your liking? Any idea of the cost?

I am with you 100% on this one grasshopper, we really dont have much to choose from for body components. our cars have about the same layout as many exotics though. The legnth and width dont vary much from lambo's. Our windsheilds are at almost the exact angle also. I would say forget about body kits though. atleast the ones that can be bought. for the right amount of money you can have almost anything done to your car. You wan exotic? Find someone who does body work and have them graft a ferrari bumper onto yours. I think if you can dream it, you can do it. I would suggest instead of trying to copy imports, forget those aggresive front bumpers and maybee go for something rare. I dont think i have ever seen a ferrari bumper on a f-body . yea go for that.

I couldn't have said it better than tbehling... if you can imagine it, you can do it... A custom shop can mold ANY.... I repeat ANY bodykit onto ANY car.

If you can draw it up, with some concept photos, it can be done.
Or if you describe what you want done, I can design some concept images for you.

You just have to have $$$$ to do this sort of custom work, and that is what the import scene has.

You want to go widebody ?

Headlight conversion ?

Custom molded bodykit ?

Custom Hood ?

Targa Conversion ?

This can all be done with $$$

Uh..Put a Ferrari bumper on your Camaro? That would completely clash with the lines of your Fbody. You would spend a serious amount of money doing it, and all you would get would be people pointing and laughing.

To be quite honest, I don't know what you're so worried about as far as feeling outdone goes. To me, a great looking car is one that has absolutely flawless paint, no clutter, no stickers, no huge wing, no crazy ass hood. I want to see some really clean lines.

If you want some ideas about what you can do for your car, go to Brent Franker's (FBODY GOD!) website by clicking here. (www.bfranker.badz28.com)

He has a huge appearance section, which I've muddled over for a long time trying to find the perfect look.

i am not talking about simply bolting a ferrari bumper in place of your stock one obviously. I was talking about taking a section of your stock bumper out and puting the ferraris desired section in. Then smoothing it down the look one peice. It is very possible with time and skill and $$$.

or there is always the option of learning the skills yourself. There is alot of info out there if your willing to look, after that it takes alot of time and work. I'm not saying it won't cost a good chunk of money, but it could help if you are so inclined.

It seems there is a lack of imagination with alot people, just following cookie cutter designs of what is already there. Changing things in a fashion that makes you happy is what customizing is all about.

I always feel a little confused when I see folks chatting about the ricers yet they try to rice-up their F-Bodies (of course, this depends on which definition of rice you go by).

Maybe it's just me and I do believe in "to each their own", but I just love the look of my STOCK 1995 Z28 1LE. It's one of the main reasons I bought the car (of course the power also helped out) I love the simple clean sleek look. Now I do admit that there have been some appearance mods that I like (such as the headlight conversion, new rims (esp. TTII's), and a lowering kit) but other than that, I'm leaving my Z as a Z.

But hey, that's just my $0.02 worth. Like I said, to each their own. If you want the wing and the body kit and you think it looks great, then go for it. Although I wouldn't make my Camaro TOO exotic.

I think it would be hard to make a Camaro look exotic. But, I think Calaway is about the closest...

I think whistlers car with the Targa top and the Vette front looks far more Exotic than the Callaway...

I'm not sure where I saw it but they do sale body kits for the Camaro that makes the car look like an European exotic car or something. Plus the kit also came with all you need to change your doors into gull wing or scissor doors. But I also remember seeing the cheapest with a price tag around 8 grand too.:(

I have to agree that there is definetely a lack of support in this area for F-bofies. I don't want to get too crazy with my car, but something like what all the Mudstains have to choose from like Saleen, Roush, etc. would be nice. All I see are ground effects, never full front/rear clip replacement (unless it's custom).

Yes, however, not everyone has the talent/ability to do what Whistler does. I believe Grasshopper was looking for something he could purchase :)

Excellent point. I never really thought of it that way... but now that you bring it up.. that IS odd as hell. There are 5 or 6 FULL Rustang replacement body kits that I know of...

Exactly! I have spent a long time researching this, and have only found one-off ideas at best (which were all pretty ugly anyway). The only tru ebody kit that I've seen is from Morgan Motorsports, but theirs is only for the LS1 Firebirds.:(

http://www.k1-styling.sk/ Go there and check out both the Evoluzione kits. Believe it or not, the car you see on the screen is a camaro/firebird. 3rd gen kit though. But I'm just using this as an example that it can be done with bolt on parts, making an fbody and any car look exotic. These are complete packages, inside and out, they cover it all. Complete new upgrade. $$$$$$ :D

While you're there check out the other kits they offer. Those look even better. Hondas I think. D

I agree with what's been said. A lot of people just don't have the vision, drive, resources, and most importantly $$$$ to do the things they can think up in their head.

There's not many things that strike me as "rice" in regards to fbodies. There are some thigns I flat out don't like, but very few things i can say, yeah, that's rice. Amazes me how so many people jump in with the rice comments around here.... :D

Most all other cars out there that people do anything at all with and even some that people don't, have many, many body kits and options to choose from in simple bolt ons. It will be nice when this happens for Fbodies. And it will, just give it time :D Until then the people that hack and chop and cut up their cars and do all these custom things are simply paving the way for what's to come. it's really only been in the last couple of years that I've noticed a real jump in appearance interest as a whole for the 4th gens. Yes it has been there since day one, but not the sort of thing we are starting to see now. Whistlers Targa is a perfect example of this, along with his custom frontend. The "C5R" 4th Gens GMPD put together also sparked a lot of ideas for a lot of people. They are both beautiful cars :)

Are those camaros photoshopped, or is it an actual car? Either way that looks awesome. Thats would be the type of look I'd be interested in if it were available. Maybe a wing added to it, just because I like that sort of thing. Commando maybe, or something similar. But anyway, give some more info on that car. Its not really too exotic, but it doesn't take away the line of a camaro either. I give it 2 thumbs up!!

I always thought a "wide body" kit would look very good.Something with rear brake ducting"aka ferarri"
This way with something wider than 315's, they would fit with no problems. Just look at the kit the Russkie's originally developed for the 3rd gen and now there is the second version..the GTS model looks pretty cool.I've seen some of those kits with better looking wheels on them than these and they look killer

http://www.euroworksltd.com/EvoluzioneII/

...now that definitly gives it a "exotic look"...so I'm sure a 4th gen could definitly look very "Lamboish" with the right
sculpted body panels.

Just like what someone else already posted k1styling has kits but if you go to this link and go half way down the page it state's that they are making a kit for the LT1-Fbody car in 2002-2003 which is right now. It makes our car look very exotic. Well to be exact it is the kit from the 2003 lamborgani. (proably spelled that wrong). I am defiently getting it now matter what it costs.

Now that I think about it I would rather spend 8K to 10K making my Z fast rather them making it look like something that came from Europe.
