Since there should be plenty of production pilot/prototype cars by then, a ride and or drive event would be really nice, plus Indy has a nice little road course that could be used.

Will the IndyBash Have a 5th Gen Ride/Drive Event?30thZ286speed 05-28-2008, 02:33 PM Since there should be plenty of production pilot/prototype cars by then, a ride and or drive event would be really nice, plus Indy has a nice little road course that could be used. yell-01vette 05-28-2008, 03:47 PM I don't expect this thread to get an answer from anybody in the know...;) ChrisL 05-28-2008, 05:15 PM I dont think we'll be seeing production driveable cars in September. I believe the bill for the 4 cars we saw was around $270,000.... EACH! 30thZ286speed 05-28-2008, 06:19 PM I don't expect this thread to get an answer from anybody in the know...;) Wasn't really looking for an answer, I was more or less raising the idea. Fbodfather 05-28-2008, 09:40 PM YES! There will be a ride and drive -- with various GM products -- however, we will not have any production Camaros as of yet -- the ones our "12 disciples of which there are 15" saw were early IVER cars -- finished to replicate a production car -- we'll have some or all of them on display -- but they aren't at the point where we'd put them in ride and drive service. Let me also say that we'd LOVE to have new Camaros for you to drive -- it makes selling them that much easier - however, the event is too early to do so -- and moving it later gets us into bad weather. IZ28 05-28-2008, 09:54 PM You quoted yourself? RLHMARINES 05-28-2008, 10:25 PM I was really looking forward to a ride along in the new camaro's, but Scott told us the bad news at the G12 Gathering this past weekend.:( P.S. Thanks Scott for helping my grandson win the bumble bee concept at the auction Sunday. I can live with that! Be sure to bring a Torrent GXP, we are going to buy one soon as the baby hauler, if I can get a deal on one....so far no luck with the GM dealers around here that have them in stock which is few and far between. Anyways, for some fun rides how about G8 GT, CTS, HHR SS, Cobalt SS, and some Corvettes maybe some with "Z**" designations. ;) :burnout: HuJass 05-29-2008, 01:35 AM Scott, That's awesome about the ride and drive for some of GM's other products. There's a lot of GM product that I would like to test. My question is; will we be able to touch and sit in the new Camaros that will be there? I'm really looking forward to the event. I'm just upset that I can't find a reasonable way to get my C/E there. I don't drive the car, so driving it is out of the question. And I can't find a company that rents enclosed car haulers near me. I guess I can't have the C/E there. If anybody has any reasonable ideas, I'm listening. Z284ever 05-29-2008, 01:51 AM I'm just upset that I can't find a reasonable way to get my C/E there. If anybody has any reasonable ideas, I'm listening. I know how you feel. The thought of driving my IROC-Z to Indy, and parking it in a - gulp - hotel parking lot for a weekend, gave me the willies. Soooo, I bought another Camaro..... JeffInDFW 05-29-2008, 02:38 AM I know how you feel. The thought of driving my IROC-Z to Indy, and parking it in a - gulp - hotel parking lot for a weekend, gave me the willies. Soooo, I bought another Camaro..... When our Camaro/Firebird (CFCC) club would do overnight road trips, we would always contact the local police department and ask about paying an off duty officer to watch the cars in the parking lot from midnight to 6am. I do not know the actual cost, but I do know that we would always take up a collection from all the guys staying at that hotel, plus our members, and it usually ended up costing everyone around $10 each. WELL worth it for peace of mind of having an officer in a marked patrol car doing nothing except watching your cars all night. At one hotel, our officer saw some guys in a pickup with a trailer back into one of our cars, get out to look, and drive away. He pulled them over and busted them for hit and run! If he had not been there, we would have walked outside to find a damaged car. Of course, we started this after one of our member had his Suburban towing a big block 69 Camaro stolen at our national event in Memphis TN in either 1997 or 1998. Last year, one of our local club members took his gorgeous, red, 701/2, split bumper Z/28 to Detroit for an event. What a great set-up he had. An enclosed trailer with a Duramax Silverado tow vehicle. When he walked out of his room the next morning, he found no Silverado. no enclosed trailer, no Z/28. All gone. :( Big Als Z 05-29-2008, 10:22 AM That, or a select few of us can take turns patroling? HuJass 05-29-2008, 01:21 PM Yeah, I guess I'll just leave the C/E home. Can I take my g/f's Altima on the track? :) My Red 93Z-28 05-29-2008, 07:07 PM I know how you feel. MLL 05-30-2008, 06:36 AM Yeah, I guess I'll just leave the C/E home. Can I take my g/f's Altima on the track? :) Only cars registered and attending the gathering will be allowed to take the track lap Sunday morning. Sorry. ChevalierSS 05-30-2008, 07:53 AM I got first dibs on the ZR1 :) HuJass 05-30-2008, 11:59 AM Only cars registered and attending the gathering will be allowed to take the track lap Sunday morning. Sorry. Yeah, I knew that. I was just being silly. I think the only cars that are allowed to register and attend the event are F-bodies and GM pace cars. 30thZ286speed 08-14-2008, 11:20 PM New question about the "production" Camaros that will be on display at Indy. Will we be able to inspect up close, sit in, etc. the new Camaros on display......I really hope so. I really want to get a feel for these cars. Or will they be locked up, windows rolled up, and the cars roped off. With DO NOT TOUCH signs everywhere :( jack24 08-15-2008, 09:46 PM New question about the "production" Camaros that will be on display at Indy. I want to order one as soon as it's available, but I won't do it until I can at least sit in one. I really don't want to wait until one shows up on the lot of my local dealer. Fbodfather... Can you answer this one for us? gsf_87iroc 08-18-2008, 10:44 PM Greg Franks from the CICC here. We were informed last week by a GM rep on our teleconference that you will be able to sit in the production car, pop the hood, etc. I'll let you know if that changes before the event. We'll keep our fingers crossed though! 30thZ286speed 08-19-2008, 08:37 AM Greg Franks from the CICC here.
