98 Tranny To 94 Z-28DustinMcGowan 05-20-2008, 02:08 PM I have a 94 z but i have a trans from a 98 z will it work? Performabuilt 05-20-2008, 03:54 PM Its not a practical swap and would require changes in the electronics and mods to the valve body along with a custom built what amount to a bastard expensive converter 12SCNDZ 05-21-2008, 07:06 AM The reason being is the '98 is an LS1 and the '94 is an LT1. The '98-up use a 2 piece case with a deeper bellhousing, different input shaft, and taller converter. Your '94 even differs from other 1 piece case 4L60E's in the fact that it's non PWM. Your valve body has one less solenoid than '95-'97. The VB, plate, electronics, and pump are different. To sum it up...The only thing that will work in your '94 is a '94 transmission...Or one out of a '93 truck, if you change the tailhousing. Frank CPT DustinMcGowan 05-21-2008, 10:47 PM So i can buy a trans from a 93 chevy truck with long tail shaft and Just change tail shaft housing and everything will bolt up? Im just wonting a quick fix for this weekend and I plan to order a trans from one of you two Its just who ever can work me the better deal. I have heard great things about both places. So who ever helps me out the most with this quick fix and has the better deal I will be ready to buy a new one buy mid next week. Performabuilt 05-21-2008, 11:06 PM Yes you can use the 93 and just swap the tail housing , You will be good to go. That's why I specified 1993 truck. Frank CPT DustinMcGowan 05-22-2008, 09:30 AM So just get one from a 93 truck and it will bolt straight in with no changes? When I buy the 93 trans from a truck what are the steps I need to take to put it in? Performabuilt 05-22-2008, 09:44 AM So just get one from a 93 truck and it will bolt straight in with no changes? When I buy the 93 trans from a truck what are the steps I need to take to put it in? Yes a 93 truck will be a 60e a 93 trans am will be a 700r4 "4l60" but i think you said on phone you have already put a 700r4 in the car and were just looking for something to attend a car show right up the road from you house this weekend so in your case since its just temporary you could really do either since you already are set up for both. DustinMcGowan 05-22-2008, 12:00 PM Ok I just bought a transmission from a 1993 Trans Am which if im right is the 700R4 "4L60" some everything will bolt up so I just need to add the throtle bracket from the 93 do to the fact that the trans shift by the linkage right? Performabuilt 05-22-2008, 01:21 PM Yes the computer does not shift the 93 but as I said If i remember our phone conversation you said ou had a 700r4 in it and all 700r4 shift only by the TV cable so you should already have everything to hook that up on there already ? | ||
