Please can you help me?

I purchased a 1987 Firebird from a friend a couple of months ago and since that time I haven't been able to keep the car started.
When my friend had the car was on the road I drove it, so I know it runs. She took it off the road for the winter and for the first couple of months she was starting it and letting it run for 20 minutes to keep the gas and fluids from going bad. The last two months of winter she did not start it. When I purchased the car from her I went to her house and started the car and let it run for 45 minutes before driving it and it ran GREAT (no problems at all). Since it sat for a couple of months without being started I threw some dry gas in and a little bit of new gas. After that the car started stalling out and would not stay running and over heated. It would start but would shift down and stall out unless you pushed the gas.
The original engine was swapt out for a L98 V-8 motor.
I am not sure where else to turn, I love this car a would like to fix it. The rest of the car is in awesome shape (I will post a picture of it).

I have checked everything and it all seams to be working fine, except I haven't been able to locate the fuel filter on this engine yet.

Could be a lot of different things.......

fuel filter is a good place to start. Its located under the drivers side of the car, just behind the door.

something like that happened to me cause i do the same thing in the winter like said try fuel filter and then check you have good spark. worry about gettin her runnin before you dive into the overheating issue which sounds like a fan issue to me

Yep, definitely check for spark. I've seen a corroded cap/rotor combo cause all sorts of issues. Idling and driveability issues.

Obviously a tune up is most likely in order. Then worry about the overheating problem
